The221Believer
Baker's Only Detective
There is approximately a week until my birthday, and since this is one of the milestone years, it's only right that I celebrate! Plus, a clip from the Sherlock special just aired! I'm over the moon and terrified at the same time...As a celebration, I'm going to be doing a series of things (as yet, most of them are undecided, but I'll work on that).
Tonight, I'll be giving away Whitney, one of the transient villagers of Baker. She hasn't stayed long, but I hope now she'll be moving on to a forever home~ she's gorgeous, and I understand the appeal even if Freya's a better snooty wolf. She's mostly original, though I have given her a butterfly.
However! This giveaway isn't so simple as just saying "me please". Instead, because I'm a nerd, I want to see you dance. I mean, I want you to solve a puzzle. I love games~ It's not a very difficult puzzle, just a little murder riddle that you may already know. The way you write your answer will be almost as important as whether you're correct or not, although being wrong will invalidate you anyway.
Rules of the Great Game~
I'll give you until midnight EST tonight (that's three and a half hours, roughly), since I'm not sure I won't be dragged off by family tomorrow. If you're not around to claim her, I will have to give her to the runner-ups, so make sure you have time to invest in this.
Make sure you read carefully...
To help keep this clean and fair as much as possible, please seal your answer in a spoiler box (square brackets, spoiler and /spoiler at the start and end of your answer). Thank you for complying!
Don't copypaste or steal the answer from another poster. That's just rude. This'll be on the honour system, as I can't very well peer over your shoulders, but I tend to notice language similarities. Just saying...Think. It's the new sexy.
The answer that is both correct and most entertainingly written for me will get the wolf.
Do your best! And happy maybe-2-minutes-of-new-content, Sherlock fandom!

Sherlock Holmes, unsurprisingly, is called to a crime scene—this time, not by the police, but by the family. A man is lying dead in front of the building and seeking the position of the windows on the building and the position in which the body is lying, it is evident that the man jumped out from one of them and committed suicide. His family, however, revolts against this idea—they don’t believe their beloved relative would do that, and beg Holmes to find the truth.
The detective asks the police to collect the traces—if they can find any, of course— on the body and heads towards the building. He goes to the first floor and towards the room that is on the front side. Inside the room, he lights a cigarette (despite John’s protests against smoking inside or at all), walks towards the window facing the dead body, opens the window and throws out the cigarette. He then goes to the second floor and repeats the same process. Unusual of Sherlock to waste cigarettes this way, but John is merely happy he’s not smoking the blasted things.
He keeps doing the same thing until he reaches the top floor, and then takes the lift back to the first floor. Upon reaching there, his face breaks into a bright smile and he informs Lestrade that it is not a suicide, but a murder; he then requests to have the body sent to the morgue where he can make his own inspection.
While the whole team is shocked to hear the revelation, he lights another cigarette and begins to smoke in earnest. John sighs in frustration.
What convinced Sherlock it was murder?

As a safety measure—albeit not a foolproof one—to show me you read and didn’t copypaste your answer from someone else, tell me your favourite book. However, try to do it in such a way that it’s unobtrusive within your reply.
