Sure, Donald Trump may win the popular vote, but who is going to win the electoral vote?

I personally can't decide. Both front-running candidates have been practically tied this whole time, and so it's hard to make a judgement on who the electoral college will pick.

Who do you think will win it?

If Georgia's a swing state, then I'm willing to bet that Hillary wins the electoral vote

Probably Clinton. The electoral map seems to be a Democratic advantage now since 2008.

If anything, it is more likely that Clinton wins the popular vote and Trump wins the Electoral College. Trump could narrowly win states like Ohio and Florida while Clinton crushes him in California and New York, and it all counts the same for the Electoral College.

I honestly think that Clinton will win. If she can pull through in Florida (and recent polls favor her there) then she will win. Trump absolutely can not win without Florida, but she can win without it.

She's likely to win because Trump needs to basically win every swing state, but we'll probably still have to sweat it out on election night. The New York Times election forecast currently has her odds of winning as the same as an NFL kicker making a 38 yard field goal which is good, but damn I wouldn't want the fate of the country resting on that field goal attempt.

Neither would I.

The project five thirty eights site has her probability of winning at around 64-65%. Dropped 20% within 2 weeks no thanks to the recent email scandal, but regardless shes 30% higher than he is. CNN currently has her at 268 electoral votes (if the election was held today) with Trump barely reaching 200. Fox News currently has her at 283 electoral votes (ironically I believe them more this go around since they're conservative and not liberal, which helps eliminate bias imo). However with that being said, this all comes down to the toss up states, this election is going to be a nail biter.

I think if she can honestly take one or two of those toss up states, that it'll be over for him

Most states require their electors to vote with the popular vote. Or at least, that's how I understand it. However, whenever I look online, I see most of them projecting Clinton to win. I'd have to say that I agree with them. She's getting good support in the states with lots of electors (like California) which should work in her favour.

Several states have passed laws which would give their electors to the candidate who wins the popular vote nationally instead of who wins the state, but those laws only go into effect if enough other states go with the national popular vote as well. If 270 electoral votes worth of states pass national popular vote laws, then the national popular vote would effectively decide the election since the national popular vote winner would get all 270+ of those electoral college votes for winning the national popular vote. Unfortunately, I don't see it ever actually becoming law since a lot of states want to preserve their "independence" from the rest of the country when it comes to their electoral votes.

I've got my fingers and toes crossed for Hillary. So far, it's made typing a pain but maybe it'll help! ;)

Honestly, I think (and hope) for Hillary to win.

I would seriously hope Hillary wins it. You don't have a great choice this time around unfortunately but for Trump to win would be the worst outcome in my opinion

I'm pretty sure Hillary will win the electoral college vote. I'm not sure about the popular vote though. I think that Trump has the popular vote but I could be very wrong. According to what I know or have been told, Hillary is winning in all of the necessary swing states so the chances of her becoming president are slightly higher than the chances of Trump becoming president. This could change though because the silent majority exists and who knows what they will do. I don't support Trump or Hillary because I disagree with both of their views but it doesn't even matter since I cannot even vote.
