I think some of the points are valid. In America there is a culture of celebrity narcissism. I don't know if violent video games should be compared to junk food.

What would you think of a Mass Effect game that is not aimed at the hardcore sci fi fan audience?

A Mass Effect type game meant to give casual and non gamers an optimistic picture of humanity's future. A video game about discovery and first contact.

With many cool looking aliens!

The player character would have to be heroic, intelligent, and compassionate but not the typical gung ho space marine.

and the antagonist would have to be evil robots so there would be no blood.

Could such a game be successful? Would it have to be cel shaded or colorful like an Nintendo game?

Who are the "successful well dressed people" you're talking about? Celebrities? The authors of the book Assassination Generation: Video Games, Aggression, and the Psychology of Killing?

This topic was not what I expected upon clicking it and reading Miserany's words made me roll my eyes. I'm not in the camp that believes video games with violence have such a huge impact that they cause a ""new era of mass homicide"" (The Goodreads page for this book is just. . .what.)

. . .

Then the second part of the post talks about developing a Mass Effect type game. I'm very confused at the moment at what type of discussion is meant to be happening.

I came for a discussion about violent video games...

I left feeling even more confused. And kinda hungry.

don't call these people well dressed unless they're wearing fursuits or something absolutely wild

I too came here expecting a discussion about violent video games...

now I'm just confused as heck
oof

Who programmed a bot and fed it 90% Mass Effect trivia lol?

I somewhat understood the first part of the post but I felt lost in the second half...

Edit: Oh never mind, I looked at their profile and it was the same person that talked about how one shouldn't like something and prefer the other.

I think op is a bot.

No, I think she?s a real person. I don?t think a bot would understand what the subject is about or post images like that.

You mean that ?Real girls love nature? thread? I agree that both that thread and this one were more senseless and not making any real discussion value. But in her defense, I used to be a lot like that when I was new on the forums (more specifically on TV.com). I used to make threads like this all the time, as well as some ordinary threads that people were not interested into. I?ve gotten better though. She?ll eventually get better, so I suggest being patient with her and refrain from harsh criticism.

The people complaining about video games thing has been going on forever. When I first started playing video games, the ESRB didn't exist. You know, those ratings like T for Teen, M for Mature, etc. They came about primarily because of the popularity of Mortal Kombat in the early '90s and some parents being concerned about the blood and violence. You can watch the Gaming Historian's video on the Creation of the ESRB for more info about that. There was also people like Jack Thompson, this (now ex) lawyer who is/was an anti video games activist who fought against them starting in the late '90s.

In other words, it has been over 2 decades since people started throwing a larger stink about video games from time to time. I don't think you really need to worry about it too much.
