why call it a switch lite...

It would be bad marketing to advertise it as otherwise, og switch was called a switch because it's catchy and because ofc it switches and the lite is called a switch because it's a essentially a brand/product line. It plays switch games and does everything else, therefore it is the same product. You don't want to confuse consumers, especially when Nintendo also appeals to casual gamers and parents. I can imagine a parent being confused if it was called something else (lets just say they called it play-tablet) and asking 'what games does it play?' 'is it compatible with normal switch games?' etc

it's like the 2ds (which to be fair changed its name accordingly), a 3ds without the 3d. that was an easier name switch (hehe) however, i don't know what they could call it aside from a switch. it is a switch still, it just doesn't... switch... idk

I didnt even understand the concept of switch considering i had only a switch lite and never experienced a switch console and then i heard someone talking about this topic and thats when i realized thats why its called a switch.. because the switch console switches....

Just wait until you learn the secret as to why it's called the GameCube.

if it doesnt switch?
Isnt the main reason why the switch console is called a switch because you can switch from handheld to television.... but with the switch lite it doesnt do anything of the sort.. so why call it a switch.. is it just baby?

I know what you are saying...but if they changed the name then people would think it might be a whole new console.

Then again, they made the 3DS into the 2DS which technically is self explanatory but it was close enough in name that people knew it was a variant of the 3DS and not a whole new system. I don't think you could do the same with the Switch name?

I mean, some people did think the 2DS was an entirely different system. Or at the very least, weren't sure if it would be compatible with 3DS games. Granted, it wasn't as bad as when people thought the Wii U was just an add-on peripheral for the Wii, but the confusion was there.
