why does dodo business class have a "giveaway" tag?

It's probably was just a cloned forum board from the other forums like TBT marketplace or Nook Cranny with only a change in name/description.

not to be a big meanie but I decided to revisit dodo business class and like about half the posts there were tagged giveaway
i mean that kind of shows how sweet everyone here is but also that lichrally defeats the point of the board lol

For me dodo business is more about “town access” like turnip sales and the airport is more about friends and just visiting in general idk tho not much difference lol

I agree with what @Dinosaurz said. I post on Dodo Business for when a villager is crafting or if I was to have Celeste, but Airport is for just coming to visit, hang out, explore islands, etc. I always use the giveaway tag bc I never do entry fee's, but I'm still opening my town as a service? Its not a huge difference but it makes sense to me I guess haha!

Please only post threads in the Airport if you are allowing people to visit your island for free; and only post in Dodo Business Class if you are charging an entry fee or expect to be tipped. It is not to do with the purpose of the visit but about whether or not the other person needs to pay or give you something in exchange.

Sorry, just to clarify (I've been a little unclear on this myself) - you're saying two of the same thread (from different people ofc) can exist in both boards, but the only thing that qualifies a thread as being Business Class is if you charge people to get into your town or use the service you're providing?

Dodo Business Class was created to be "The Airport, but when you're charging a fee for access." That is really supposed to be the only difference.

The reasoning, as I understand it, was that a lot of people disliked having so many profit-oriented threads on a board they thought was about being friends and helping each other out.

I think the description of both boards could benefit a little clarification so that there's less confusion, I get why @Dinosaurz and @BaileyEloise thought that way because that's what the description of the Airport implies: "Visit other islands or invite guests into yours in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This is the central board for friend code exchange."

I'm only aware of the difference because I followed the discussions about entrance fees and such from afar but I think I would have been confused otherwise.

i feel like the two are really ambiguous. the addition of the giveaway tag in dodo business class adds to that since ideally you should only be using dodo business class if you’re anticipating getting paid.

I personally use the airport and say tips are optional not required because I'm not expecting anything from any one person, but if you feel like you wanna be nice, that's fine too, so I think that's okay in this forum, though a Mod or Admin will have to correct me if I am wrong.

I think the giveaway tag is more for like, if you are having some kind-of giveaway on your island, so people know? Like maybe if someone is doing an item giveaway, but there's a fee of like 1 NMT or something to come and get free things? Or for like a raffle, which was mentioned earlier in the thread. I don't know for sure. I could see someone say have a thread that's an entry fee, and you spin one of those wheels to determine your prize kinda deals? That I would consider a giveaway with an entry fee?

I believe I saw a mod post here the other day saying that if you post something along the lines of "tips are appreciated but not necessary" then the thread still belongs in the airport because it's not forcing you to pay?

I think antonio may have been right in saying the giveaway tag may mayhaps just be a mistake. the raffle and other giveaway ideas you people have posted could be plausible but I'd say about 99% of posts on there are not raffles lol and if that is the purpose for it then it's being wildly misused.

I'm not really sure what I'd suggest to the mods to combat this ish tho, it's not that easy to communicate to people what each board is for when they're so similar, and yet it would be strange to remove one of the boards entirely because there was a whole huge thread a few days ago preaching for separated boards.

I agree, it is confusing. Looking at the posts in the board the giveaway ones “technically” belong in the airport so it’s being misused a lot anyway
