Why is Bill so popular all of a sudden?

I've noticed he went to number one on the ACNH portal ranking recently and has only now dropped to 3. This sees to have come out of nowhere.

he's pretty snazzy to be fair, i only just found out about him last year in the NH trailer and he became one of my favourite jocks, so maybe others have only just noticed him too and liked his design

I think he's cute too. He's at my campsite now. I was just wondering if there was some weird reason he shot way up the ranking like that.

From what I've heard, a well liked content creator passed away recently and some of his friends asked people to vote for Bill because he was his favorite villager.

I'd take him but I'd have to trade him for Sherb and I don't think I can do that. oh well.

Well makes sense, Bill is one of the original villagers who gets promoted on covers often enough. Usually has a nice house and with New Horizons making people start off with jock, its more likely that more people have started with him and have learned of his existence.

Same with Dobie and other villagers who are no longer RV villagers.

I think the guy’s name is Nintendo Guru? He streamed and passed away, and Bill was his favorite. People rallied to get him to the top.

Sharksheep and Andy's posts are correct. Bill was voted for in honor of the Youtuber Nintendo Guru who sadly passed away a while back, as he was his favorite villager.

For those unaware, the Animal Crossing Portal tier list is based on user votes so we sometimes have villagers who get to the top seemingly out of nowhere.
