I think it's just so a signature doesn't take up the entire screen and be totally obnoxious. I'm not sure, that just my belief!genuinely curious not trying to be snarky but what is the purpose of a sig limit ? :0

really? I would never have guessed! very interesting indeed...as someone who's on a couple forums without a height limit lemme tell ya it's quite possibly one of the greatest and underappreciated features of this site for this reason alone
I mean if you have a huuuge picture that's stored on TBT's servers, that's probably going to affect server response time if it has to get loaded every time someone loads a page with that picture in someone's signature. And even if it isn't stored on TBT's servers, people shouldn't have to spend exorbitant amounts of resources just to load one person's signature, regardless of where it's hosted. The height limit primarily serves as a way to prevent signatures from being too obnoxiously large, but it does prevent people from doing extreme things that could slow down servers.so its for loading times / to avoid excessive sizes in sigs / to save people time and patience. i figured it had something to do with all those three but also with some other things like server efficiency or sumn coolio like that
