It seems as though everyone on the board is loosing hope in Brawl? Care to explain your reasoning?

I still think it will be the best thing since melee.....

though I am bummed out by the pushed back date....

:'(

If I'm one of those two people Storm was reffering to, which I don't think I am, I haven't lost hope. I'm just upset about the delayed release.

I don't like the delayed release date, but I'm still far from "loosing hope".

Meh..

It looks like Nintendo is making this game more for the "casual" gamers, leaving us "competitive" gamers hanging.

Which totally sucks.

You're basing this off of someone saying there's no wavedashing, which a lot of people don't even know what is. You don't need to have it to have a competitive match.

Actually, a lot of advanced techniques were taken out in Brawl :S

Well, that horribly sucks. They're toning the game down so people who aren't experienced can kill experienced players.

I didnt get the point of wave dashing L canceling etc. You can be a pro without those, it like turning Super Smash Bros into something like Gunz. I don't have half a clue on how to do them and I'm almost unstoppable with every character except Pichu lol

wave dashing is like saying you're a pro because you played for so long in a row that you trained your hands to press certain buttons in a certain order really fast, once you have the technique down, it actually takes your skill level down, because it makes it easier to fight since you have those techniques.

You honestly don't need them for competitive matches, you can play however you want, it doesnt have to do with what techniques there are. You can play and mess around with friends with all the items on, just for fun, but then you can take it down to core skill and have one of those silent brain dead matches, no matter if you can wave dash or not, the game is just as fun without them.

just my opinion though.</big>

You can't be a pro without using those techniques. Its just not possible.

Without using L cancel, all of your attacks will have lag, making you wide open for attacks. Without using Wavedash there's no spacing between you and your opponent, making you vulnerable to most things. Without short hops you'll make full jumps, leaving you wide open in the air too.

I could keep going, but I won't. If your planning on being good in Brawl, start using a different mindset on competitive gaming.</big>

exactly my opinion, however if they aren't in brawl, there would have to be another way.</big>

Quoted for truth. I'll stick with Halo 3.

L Cancel: if you were good, you'd know how to fight without being left wide open. ever. I use Luigi and Marth most of the time, and they aren't necessarily fast characters, yet I'm never left open because I think ahead and I don't go in kamikaze mode thinking that my little L Cancel will save my butt. This is exactly what I was talking about when I said..
once you have the technique down, it actually takes your skill level down, because it makes it easier to fight since you have those techniques.
see, you use these moves as a replacement for being a pro, it's totally generic. nce you have these on your side, you can do something stupid and noobish and get away with it, sometimes even getting a kill off it. You use these because you don't know how to be good without them.

WaveDash: ROFL.

You've gotta be kidding me, right? You're a total noob if you don't know how to get space between you and your opponent. if you're able to maneuver quickly, you can get some good space using only the real moves. By the way, why would you want space between you and someone if you're apparently a pro? shouldn't you be fighting rather than running away like a coward?

Short Hops: Ok, dude, you're starting to sound like you have no skill here...

vulnerable.... in the air.... wow.

I'm strongest when I'm way high in the air, I can't be "vulnerable", because I'm too busy owning the other dude. There's this little thing called practice, where I train myself not to suck >_<. See, you're using these so that you don't actually have to get good on your own, all you have to do to look skilled is to keep pressing buttons in a certain order really fast until it's an automatic reflex, but it's not legitimate.

look at it this way.

you say that anyone who doesn't use these will end up vulnerable. I'm living proof that that is a lie. you saying that proves that you can't play well without them, that you always end up vulnerable and getting hit if you don't have them to back you up. That just says you don't have genuine skill. If you had real skill you could play without them without being vulnerable. You have to trust your skill and think on your feet, knowing what to do and when, and pulling it off, rather than just winging it without knowing what you're doing, something goes wrong, you're about to get hit, and then *poof* you're saved by an L Cancel or Wave Dash etc.

try it without the techniques, learn real skill.
