hiii guys!
so, as we all know, animal crossing new horizons will be released on march 20th.
now, thankfully it's very close by!
however, almost everyone in the ac fandom is awaiting the release.
do you think that it'll be sold out on the 20th?
i personally haven't pre-ordered it since i don't have a switch yet. i might get one in the beginning of march.
thanks for reading <3

I don't know, rly. I plan on having a digital copy fro0m Target, getting their pre-orer bonus.

I don't think it will be sold out. I reckon the shops will be well stocked.

I almost pre ordered it yesterday, but here's how much.

$399 is the cheapest switch (they sell for $460 here in Australia)
$79 for New Horizons
$29.95 Nintendo Online (to trade only)

Knowing the problems with joy con drift, I'll want a spare set of controllers, so that's another $119.

That's over $600.
I can do it but it's going to hurt, as I had an unexpected cost when my phone packed it in a few weeks ago, and I replaced that with what I was going to spend on the switch. :)

You can probably save $119, as the drift issue should have been fixed with the release of the new system.

I've read that the new system has a longer battery life, but nobody knows if the drift was fixed.

I think they would've made a point of that if they had fixed it, but I haven't read anything. :(

I will get a spare set because I don't want to not be able to play the game if the originals have to be sent away. :)

If you’re only gonna be playing NH on the Switch, I don’t think joycon drift will be an issue for you, at least not anytime soon. The drift is more likely to happen if you play intense games that have you moving around the sticks vigorously. Unless NH has a new fishing mechanic where you have to roll the stick in a circle as fast as you can, you can save some money by just sticking with the joycon that come with the system.

I don’t think ACNL will be sold out where I live. One of the many perks of living in a small town.

I literally play for hours.
It's a wonder I don't have tunnel vision. :D

I don?t mean to butt in, but I?ve had my Switch for a couple of years now, all my friends have had theirs for several years, a lot of us have additional pairs of joycons and we?ve all been extensively playing games that are a bit harsh on the joycons. None of us experienced any sort of problem with them. I think it?s absolutely ridiculous to buy additional controllers beforehand, especially if spending that money is going to hurt.

If - and that is a strong if - your joycons are going to break at one point in the future, Amazon will deliver you a replacement within one day.

No. Pokemon did not sell out and it was a top seller for the system. You will be able to get a physical copy if you want one at any time.

Regarding Joycons, I got my switch in January 2019 and it has 600 hours on it with no calibration issues. My Switch travels with me almost everywhere I go. Problematic systems are the outliers, not the average. Only 100 of those hours are with a Pro controller. The vast majority are in handheld as that is my preferred way to play.

OP is asking about Animal Crossing not Pokemon :D

I'm in Australia.
Nobody will deliver me a replacement in one day. LOL

It's not ridiculous to me. I'm just being safe, as so many people have had that problem, or there wouldn't currently be a class action about it.

So, I'm going to keep a spare set for my own peace of mind.

I was using Pokemon as an example that Nintendo has not demonstrated any problems with supply of Switch cartridges. I'm just saying the most in-demand game on the system of last year had absolutely no issues remaining in stock. Animal Crossing will have nowhere near the launch day sales of Pokemon and it will not be sold out. It will almost certainly be overstocked.

Ok cool :D

I think you're good. I don't think it will sell out. Though it can vary too. I started frequenting a specific target to buy games. They only get small quantities. They either restock or not. Eventually I've realized a lot of gamers actaully drop by to this target while chatting up with the guy 8n charged at electronics. Then again gamestop is a couple of minutes away from Target. If I buy a game release date I always drop buy early morning 8-9am to play safe unless I'm receiving it release date from online then that's a different story.

Well never buy additional until you actually start experiencing it or when it's bad that now you really need a new set. I did though buy an additional set during black friday for emergency but that's because I only payed $50. I use hori's zelda dpad which I haven't had problems and so far have lasted better than nintendo's.

lmao who said? there are still reports regardless. Even the Lite has reported drifting. This issue is going away any time soon.

I will definately shop around, though I really like the purple and yellow. Even the green and pink are pretty cool looking.
I haven't seen them for under $119 though (in Australia).

I forgot that Australia is a third world country where one can’t find an electronics store. Also, no joycon will break within a couple of days. If you’re experiencing the problem, you’ll have plenty of time to get new ones before you can’t use them at all anymore. But you do you of course. :D I just think it’s an utterly unreasonable fear.

Was doing some conversions and the prices seem almost identical just a dollar or two more. but that switch price though oof. good luck! the yellow and purple are cool and i actaully have the pink/green but don't use them much. my pink one though does drift but its not bad, most times its unnoticeable.

I know there are electronic stores, but I am currently (slowly) getting over agoraphobia, that's why I buy everything online. (I never liked crowds before I was agoraphobic either)

So not a fear at all.

I just want to keep a spare handy.

Yeah, $399 is the cheapest switch so far.
I'm ok with that. :)

hi. not to add to your fears at all but i would definitely recommend getting a second set of controllers for multiple reasons. Firstly, if you have friends u want to play with its good to have spares. And secondly, the joycons can be a bit hard to handle (especially if u r only using one) if u bigger hands and poor eyesight, so it might make more sense to get a wireless controller as a spare, because they are easier to use. the newer switches have better joycons but honestly, anything can cause joycon drift, and if it gives u peace of mind i deffo recommend getting a spare. I have 4 controllers now (2 joycons and 2 wired) and only one of them doesn't have joy con drift, and i know we cant send them to get repaired here in good old aussie land (if they can people, let me know).
