will ac:nh be sold out?

hi. not to add to your fears at all but i would definitely recommend getting a second set of controllers for multiple reasons. Firstly, if you have friends u want to play with its good to have spares. And secondly, the joycons can be a bit hard to handle (especially if u r only using one) if u bigger hands and poor eyesight, so it might make more sense to get a wireless controller as a spare, because they are easier to use. the newer switches have better joycons but honestly, anything can cause joycon drift, and if it gives u peace of mind i deffo recommend getting a spare. I have 4 controllers now (2 joycons and 2 wired) and only one of them doesn't have joy con drift, and i know we cant send them to get repaired here in good old aussie land (if they can people, let me know).

Oh, I don't have any fears whatsoever, it's just good to keep a spare handy, just in case. :)

Yeah, I was wondering if we could send them away in Australia. They fix them for free elsewhere.

I'm going to ask about that before buying!

Edit. I wouldn't buy wireless as I'd only play in handheld mode.

No, games don't really sell out the way they used to, unless its a limited edition of some kind - or a totally brand new system.

So many people buy digital that physical production can keep up pretty easily.

There is a fear in my case, that the game would be sold out in the stores available here. There's only 2 very tiny game shops in my city that hold switch games and they only stock a limited amount of new physical games, some not even on release. I'm going to get a digital copy so I don't have to worry about that!

i dont think it'll be sold out where i live. there are 3 stores all within a small radius that will all stock it (target, best buy, and gamestop) so if it's not at one i'll just go to another. i'm stuck on whether to get a physical or digital copy tbh. i like having a physical game copy, but i also hate having to switch out one cartridge for another. either way im putting a hold on my spending until i decide which to get :p if i were more uncertain about stock, i'd go for digital but since it will most likely not be an issue for me im now at a loss.

I think is totally possible it you life in a small village. We don't even have an electronic shop here and I have to go to the next city and even there we lnly have like two stores with switch games. So chances are good it will be sold out. So it really depends on your location ^^

I will get it digital. Can't wait :)

Possibly. Pok?mon Sword and Shield have been regularly sold out since before Christmas where I live so it wouldn't surprise me if Animal Crossing has periods of being out of stock in the weeks following the initial shipment.

I'm buying digital though so not a problem for me. ;)

I guess I should clarify: when I think of sold out, I mean on a large scale with stock issues for months. One store could easily sell out and have a temporary stock issue, sure.

My grocery store this weekend was out of white onions. But I dont think white onions have been sold out all over.

It depends on the store. Small local chains? Maybe. Big retail stores? Depends on the location. They'll order bulks of them like they do for most games from a major publisher. I saw some stores sell out of Pokemon, while others were barely touched. If the store is a place with a LOT of traffic, it'll probably sell out for a bit, but they'll get a restock within 1-2 days.

You have to take into account though, in a small village, the demand for the game diminishes, as does the number of Switch owners. In anycase, the retailers have their own internal sales databases. They can view their own Switch console and game sales to help them determine how many copies to order. Plus, when you preorder a game, you help the retailer have enough copies on hand and reserve one for you for release day should the game have a chance of selling out.

No, I don't think they will be sold out, but of course, it depends on location. Some places get lots of traffic and sell out quickly, while others that don't have much traffic, it won't be. Also, some other games like Pok?mon can sell out quickly due to big popularity, but for Animal Crossing who knows. Though Animal Crossing is pretty popular, so like I said, it depends on a person's location. :)

I don't think it will be sold out. I reckon the shops will be well stocked.

I almost pre ordered it yesterday, but here's how much.

$399 is the cheapest switch (they sell for $460 here in Australia)
$79 for New Horizons
$29.95 Nintendo Online (to trade only)

Knowing the problems with joy con drift, I'll want a spare set of controllers, so that's another $119.

That's over $600.
I can do it but it's going to hurt, as I had an unexpected cost when my phone packed it in a few weeks ago, and I replaced that with what I was going to spend on the switch. :)

If you want to save a little bit of money, you can always buy things used :D or do a little bit of snooping online for a great deal on Switch products.

I really don't think it will sell out. Nintendo knows there will be considerable demand for this game.

That said, I pre-ordered my physical copy last June.

for individual locations, maybe, but more than likely not. on a large scale, absolutely not. there's digital releases now, and all. plus, being realistic, animal crossing is not very popular with people who aren't already fans of it. if you're in a circle of fans then yeah it will seem popular, but a lot of people don't like the playstyle or actively hate it.

i plan to buy a physical copy, and i'd preorder it if possible, but i don't quite have the money for it right now, so... we'll see. retailers in my small town rarely have nintendo games in general, so i'll just order online- they tend to be cheaper online too. i'm not sure preordering would get me the package on the same day, anyways, i've never preordered anything. guess i'll just wait.

I never buy preowned.

If it's new, then I know chances of it having something wrong with it are slim.

Not that all second hand items have anything majorly wrong with them, I'd just prefer a new system. :)

Buying a used switch is not a good idea, unless the seller proves that the unit isn't banned online (for hacking).

Sucks, but it happens :(

I don?t see it selling out. I think it will be a big seller, but not enough to sell out.
