Will New Horizons survive?

People just don't like change, I think things will be very different a year from now.

If they add back everything they took from NL, and got rid of golden tools that break, maybe it could be the relaxing AC game the series has always been, instead of a stressful grind.

Gone are the days it seems, where you can cast out a line and fish peacefully.

Now you have to craft your rods when they break and craft bait.

They really downplayed the crafting in the initial direct.

I never run out of supplies to craft though as my inventory is full of them and crafting only takes a second if you think about it.

I actually like the fact that we need to work towards crafting certain furniture items, etc.
It feels nice knowing that I accomplished crafting so and so by gathering supplies that were not always so easy to come by.
But if someone is after instant gratification, then I can see how this aspect of the game could be annoying.

I also like the different island tours more compared to the old island we were stuck with in New Leaf.
Sure, some of the bugs there might have been more lucrative but it was always same 'ole.
The fact that you can also encounter villagers to invite through the Island Tours if you have an empty plot of land is a bonus for me to as I'm actually excited to go to the Islands now.

I personally don’t think anything will ever live up to new leaf, but that seems to be an unpopular opinion. I don’t think new horizons will be forgotten like city folk and wild world. It’s absolutely booming right now, and though it might die down once the hype passes, I don’t think it will be left in the dust. At least not for decades.

I installed PC out of boredom, waiting for NH.

PC was constantly getting materials and crafting.
Couldn't wait to delete PC and get back in to a proper mainline game... only to find folks have walked in to a larger PC grind.

Some things do need to change.

Absolutely :) people were still finding out new things in new leaf about a year or so ago. This game has so much packed into it (not to mention the added downloads/seasonal events). This is a game I’ll be playing in years to come and probably more frequently than I did with new leaf!

I definitely think so, especially since with game having the ability to take DLC and all and how much still isn't "discovered," I have high hopes for New Horizons.

Of course it will survive! Don't even think for a second that it won't. The people who reacted badly to this game are a small - loud, but still small - minority compared to the throngs who are having an absolute blast. New Horizons is doing well and will continue on just fine, no matter how much negativity you might see in certain corners of the internet. New Leaf will still be there for the people who prefer that game, but that part of the playerbase will not "doom" New Horizons by any stretch of the imagination.

i think it will. many games may seem dead but still survive with a small community, and i feel like this game will have at least that. i'll personally play it for years and years. it's like a daily chore for me, something i can look forward to after a day at school. i like the villagers way more in this game than in pervious ones, which will keep me playing long as well. i say that even after i "finish" decorating and terraforming my island, opportunity may strike and i want to redo it which will keep the game going for me. over all, many of the features appeal to me (as someone who likes grinding).

while i love the game and will most definitely play it for years, i still have some issues with it. there are so many inconveniences that i wonder if they had outside input when making the game (not being able to craft from storage being the main one). im also a bit sad by the supposed lack of furniture. the furniture we did get looks really lovely and i'll find uses for them, but that still doesnt change the fact that we really are lacking furniture (at least series/set-wise) and that should be changed. things like the bunny day set doesnt count because its not furniture i could use with an everyday, "normal" looking house. i hope that the issues i have with the game are changed through updates. i have some hope for them, but at the same time i cant help but feel a bit doubtful.

to conclude, its a wonderful game but it lacks some things.

No doubts, Believe it or not the game is pretty well received. Yes there are people who have worries, concerns or dislike something but those vary and I don’t think they discredit the game in anyway in the long term. Yes there will be people who hate it and will stop playing that is okay and Yes there will be people who will play for years. Can’t please everyone. Animal crossing is kind of unique that can’t judge in the short time. Its not a one and done. The reviewers touched on this point how hard it is to judge with limited time and many feel like they just scratched the surface. It interesting to in year what we have under and overestimate.

I was not fortunate enough to play ACNL so does anyone know if they have a track record of updating certain frustrations of the game in the future? i.e. tools breaking too fast, changing hourly music etc?

i dont think acnl ever updated except for one time (which was the welcome amiibo update, which added features rather than fix (unless u count holding ur net while shaking a tree a fix and not an update)). this game's completely different from past games because of the fact its getting updates and its many new features. i could be wrong tho as i never got into those game enough to research things like this, but all of this seems to be new territory.
