Will there be an energy system in NH? Was this known, am I just dumb?

I was re watching the NH nintendo direct trailer and I never realized it before but when the villager removed a tree via shovel a count of apples in the upper left hand corner of the screen went down by one, and it went up by one when she ate an apple.
is that a confirmed thing? Did they announce an energy system for certain actions?

I haven't heard of anything like that. I wouldn't mind having to eat for energy.

The announcer lady says "a nutritious snack will help you shovel up a tree in no time", and thats when the player eats the apple, the count goes up etc. If so I'd wonder what it's apply to

I hope it'll allow us to also move rocks. It doesn't make sense to only have it apply to moving trees.

It could be for landscaping only? We'll have to wait and see.

There were some subtle hints in the direct, but not sure how much energy plays into our town development. I'm not slaying some Major Test of Strength gyroid just to get my stamina up...:p

At first I thought the announcer only said that without really a meaning behind it and that the counter just counts the apples so that you know how many of them you have in your inventory at the moment. However, now that I think about it, such a energy system would make sense, like eat a certain amount of fruits so that your character gets full of energy and becomes strong enough to remove bigger objects or maybe even rocks. With this, fruits would get a new useful function besides of just selling them or giving them to your villagers. Sounds like a pretty cool idea actually.

I hope it will only be for major landscaping actions like moving tress and hopefully rocks, it will be annoying to have it for planting things.

i dont think its really a "stamina" type thing. from what i saw during the video where this was introduced it just seemed like all the apples do is allow you to move trees entirely without having to chop them down. the number of apples you eat determines how many trees you can pick up with the shovel

They did not show any stamina bars for basic tasks like placing paths, getting resources, or watering flowers. it will most likely just be for moving entire trees.

Stamina a-la BOTW...

Not sure how I feel about it.
Can be cool if implemented properly.

Yup! I think they said if you eat fruit, you gain energy points to uproot trees haha. I wonder if they'll be used for other things though! That would be pretty cool, honestly. I'm really liking all the new never-seen-before features they're adding to this game. It makes it all the more exciting~

Yeah, I'm very curious to find out what other things eating fruit will let you accomplish. Also if it carries over multiple days or goes away each new morning. Also as a sidenote I hope the GUI for energy changes depending on your native town fruit! We've seen one with an apple already but that little extra bit of personalisation would be very cool imo!

Y'all missing out on one key thing.

We got crafting. We got the potential of energy.

Y'all might get what y'all finally asking for: Cooking

I think it is just for for example moving a tree like in the video where it showed it off. Hopefully anyways. I don?t want to have stamina or be forced to have to eat. Animal crossing is a game where you don?t have to do anything if you don?t want to.

I wouldn't want to be "forced to eat" to have stamina for this game either. As much as I loved games like Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons, it's just more things to think about and somewhat takes away the relaxing aspect.

That’s what I was thinking. Hopefully. Still make it optional, but my little villager wants to cook too lol.

Me too. I'm hoping they balance all of these new potential features (eating for energy/stamina, crafting) well enough with the rest of the game so that it still retains the peaceful, relaxing qualities of the previous games.

I think it's just for moving trees and maybe possibly rocks, not a "you need to eat all the time" system. I loved Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons, but having to eat all the time was really hard, so I don't believe that sort of thing will be in the game. It would take the relaxing part of Animal Crossing away. So yeah, it's just for moving trees and maybe other things.

Especially since it's unrealistic. I practice intermittent fasting, and you don't need to eat every minute (or even every day) to have energy. I do 24 hour fast just fine.
