we literally overlaid their wip with the photo of rapmon used as a "ref" and it lines up, 100%.
even if you heavily ref from a photo, you can't carbon copy proportions to the exact tee unless you trace it, just saying.

They could have used the grid system to replicate the picture from a reference. That'll give you the same proportions almost exactly.

But considering they're new, I kind of doubt it.

yeah but i did that for YEARS in high school on big huge 18x24 inch projects and your proportions are never 100% carbon copied no matter how detailed you try to be. lol. that's how i did my marvel zombies in different mediums. the grid method is amazing for helping you learn anatomy.
