I don't think it's a bad idea, but I think the majority of players would prefer to have their own town. Most people I know are very protective of their towns and the idea of someone else having free roam is a bit scary. Sharing a town just doesn't appeal to me personally because I feel like there would be too many complications unfortunately.
But, like I said, it's not an entirely bad idea! I think it would be cute if a couple or two best friends maintained a town together, because there's a level of trust there and it would be easier for people with a close relationship to agree on what they want their town to look like.

Hm, I mean, if there is a option you can choose to share your town with someone else or you get a
separate town which is made for something like this then ok, why not.
Other then that, I prefer to have my town for myself. I wouldn't like it if someone would change things
in the town in a way I don't like or without telling me, it would just cause too much trouble in my opinion.

Personally, I'd prefer to have this feature to be restricted to people in real life so you can run a town together with your siblings etc as I think having it online could face a lot of problems, especially if one person decides to do something without the other's permission and everything goes back and forth that way.
But I think for those in real life, you should be able to play at the same time.

I like the idea of some kind of separate co-op area. I think it could work well with the right consideration, but I think it would definitely be a separate area from the main town.
