Would anyone be interested in complex tasks/missions?

One thing that I always felt a little let down by, was how the daily tasks in Animal Crossing always felt way too easy and short. I have always wanted more complex tasks for the player to do on a daily or weekly basis.

Ideas like detective work, where instead of looking for an item that character lost and the task is over, you have to follow clues that ultimately undercover a mystery. Nothing as drastic as murder or anything, but maybe a character lost an item and you have to do a range of different tasks like speak to villagers, search the island, dig in certain areas, etc and follow the clues to uncover the item whereabouts. Maybe another villagers found it and brought it home, or maybe an animal found it and brought it up into a tree, etc. Another idea would be that maybe a villager put a pie out to cool down and it went missing and you have to uncover where it went and you find out another villager ate it and was lying about having eaten it after the clues lead you to their home and you find the pie dish and crumbs.

Maybe once in a while a note in a bottle could wash up on the shore and you have to follow the clues to the location of a treasure. Each clue could be like a riddle that needs to be solved. When you find the item, it could be a special rare piece of treasure that can be brought to the museum. The player would need to undercover multiple pieces in order to put together the entire treasure item.

Maybe their could be weekly events that require the player collect a series of different items for a special festival or something where the villagers need your help. Like maybe they have an Apple Festival one week where you have to collect a certain amount of apple, craft a certain amount of apple pies that can be sold. Maybe KK Slider is having a concert that requires you craft tables, chairs, speakers, and more, that will all go towards setting up the concert.

Doing these more complex tasks could earn you either a range of special items, or maybe bring in a certain higher amount of bells as a reward; basically any kind of reward that makes doing the task worth it.

I just always felt that daily tasks on previous games were so short and never really required much engagement. They could still have simple tasks like those but it would be nice to have some more complex ones too.

That would be great ! I'd love to get more complex tasks. For example, a chain of event. Go talk to X, he gives you a package to send to Y, who gives you a letter to deliver to Z, who gives you instructions for X, etc.

The message in a bottle idea is really cute! I would love some weekly complex tasks. I Don't mind the simple ones because it's pretty much getting rewarded for stuff you were already going to do, but I think it would be cool to have some harder things to do and special rewards for once you finish it.

Yep. :) I think the Nook Miles stuff will implement a lot of it though. Seems like a pretty big list of things.

They nook miles is something different though, those are more like achievements. Once their all done you cant do them anymore. Tasks are little favours that you can do to help the villagers and stuff.

Same here, one of the reasons I time travel.
Things move a little too slow, there isn't much to do aside from shopping (once you've collected all the fossils and you have enough money in your abd) and the villagers don't have enough interesting things to say, so I foward time, buy stuff, water plants, greet villagers, see if I get any pings for move outs or pwp and then foward again, unless I'm bored and I'm giving the game.a rest.

I love the note in the bottle idea, I used to think in WW that one day a note would wash up leading me to a cool treasure, but it never happened. :(

I'd love for there to be more events that's one of the biggest reasons I prefer the past Animal Crossing, especially the GCN one, along with other reasons: better dialogue, better music, ect. :)

I'd definitely enjoy more involved and/or time consuming tasks.

I did the same thing. I work finish everything on my land so fast I would resort to time manipulation to keep myself entertained. Kinda ruined the game for me in the end cause I needed up getting everything in the game within weeks and just stopped playing after a while. Im glad time manipulation might not be a feature anymore for that reason.

I would love this. Especially if it's tasks that take some time and aren't so easy to solve.

I love the idea of being a psuedo-detective. However, I wouldn't want it all the time, or it would get annoying fast. Maybe have a few different events that cycle, and each week you have a certain chance of getting a long-term event. That way, when they do come up, they're fun and exciting yet still take enough time to not be an easy errand.
