While we all know that hacking is generally frowned upon in Pok?mon, I?m wondering what your opinions are on turning off a system after losing a battle or if you made some other mistake in Pok?mon

For instance, if you are in a Max Raid battle, and you save before battling. Then when you battle, you turn off the system or close the software after four Pok?mon faint. Or if you?re hunting legendary Pok?mon through the ultra wormhole in Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, you save before battling, and if you accidentally defeat the Pok?mon, you can turn off the system to make it like it never happened. I know the Battle Tree punishes you for this, but I don?t know if you guys would consider it cheating to soft-reset to get better results.

Ehhhhhh for max raid battles and catching legendary Pokemon, I would say no. Reason being that it doesn’t affect anyone except yourself, and you’re just trying to improve your odds at the game by having another go at it. The Battle Tree and other things like competitive Pokemon actually make sense to punish you for it, because otherwise you would be able to “cheese” your way through the competition and it wouldn’t really be fair to others. As far as catching things from raids and ultra wormholes though, I would say no.

My opinion is no. It's only helping yourself and isn't harming anyone else so who cares.

Why it should matter to anybody except the person playing the game themselves whether someone soft resets for anything that doesn't affect anyone else is beyond me. It's like people who complain about other people time traveling in Animal Crossing. People play differently and that's perfectly fine, we don't need ridiculous purity tests.

Soft reset for whatever reason you want.

Those things are more exploits, but you're just exploiting the game being a game. Like, gaming is not that serious, it's supposed to be fun and entertainment. It's one thing if it affects other people, but if the game doesn't want you to do these things it wouldn't allow you to. That's why the Battle Tree punishes, whereas the devs didn't care about other circumstances. They made the game, you bought it. Do with it what you will, no one should worry about what other people like to do with their games.

Err no it's not cheating, it's just resetting so you get to what you want. It's not that it would be disallowed unless you eg. created a bad one copy yourself because you couldn't get one yourself. Also honestly as long as you don't harm people online I don't care what you do.

If you save before a legend, kill it, and don't reset to try and get it again, then you're insane lol

soft resetting is something pretty much everyone has done at one point or another, especially in a game like pokemon. seriously the amount of soft resets i've had to do for cynthia is staggering. it's actually pretty encouraged in the community, especially when it comes to shiny hunting
