When I first built Lionel a vacation home, I wasn't sure what to do with his theme of a
"welcoming restroom," but with the arrival of Monja, a dog looking for a nice yard to pee in, I found new inspiration.
1st Floor
A rainy garden and the "entrance" to a cozy one-storey ryokan (2nd floor)
"Omotenashi" theme points:
Included several yard options for Monja to pee on: rocks, bushes, and a tree.
Rain and shishi odoshi water sounds to mask restroom noises for a more pleasant experience.
Two private stalls so neither has to try and hold it waiting for a stall.
Private stalls have open tops with a lantern positioned above so they'll never be dark.
Roofed seating area to relax and enjoy the garden on rainy days, with a vending machine to rehydrate after using the restroom.
This floor has water, so it splashes when you walk, and npcs can jump around splashing the puddles.
2nd Floor
The "interior" for the "yard" (1st floor). Has a living area & bathroom.
"Omotenashi" theme points:
While most of the vacation spot has Monja's Japanese theme, I put a few of Lionel's personal touches in the bathroom area. It also has a western style toilet so it's easy for Lionel to use.
A little shelf next to the toilet for a magazine (or anything else they feel like bringing in).
One yellow cosmos in the home's actual yard is plucked to match the one on the dresser here. Monja makes sure to water (?) his flower garden outside every day and is very proud of them
A simple, relaxing room that isn't cluttered. The table is foldable so they can put it away when not using it, or bring it out for meals and card games.
Since there's only boys here, the bath area has a slatted wall so it feels bigger and less closed-in. The toilet has a solid wall next to it.
why I spent so much time and effort on the cursed toilet house is a mystery even to me
