So I've always been that kid who hyper fixated on stuff they loved. I had super specific and intense attachments to fantasy characters or my own characters I create because I'm just that kind of ~p a s s i o n a t e~ person, I guess.

Any of you guys have a character you treasure very dearly, connect with in a special way, or just genuinely love with all of your heart? Doesn't matter if they're from a franchise or your OC. If so, tell me about them! What do you love about them? How do you connect with them? What makes them so special to you?

Honestly, it’s kind of obvious but it’s Izuku Midoriya from My Hero Academia for me. I know it’s pretty unoriginal and there’s plenty of people on the internet that also have him as a favorite, but he is my TOP favorite character from anything I‘ve ever watched, read, or thought of. Not only that, but the reason my account is based after him now is because my personality and a lot of things about me are very similar to him. I’m different in that I was born with Aspergers/ASD, I always am too hard on myself, I’m always studying and overanalyzing things, I always do a lot better than I think I’m going to do, I’m very humble, friendly, and empathetic, the list goes on really. I’ve even done martial arts for a long time. But I think the way I’m like him the most is I always rush into things without thinking, I move at a fast pace in my life, and I have a drive to help others, no matter who they are. Every time I have an opportunity to help someone whether it be with words or actions, I do it in a heartbeat. Whether I know them or not. I’m also super hardworking and very creative like him as well. Not to mention I’m sensitive and cry at times.

I’ve already watched all four seasons of the sub of MHA, but I’m in the process of watching the English dub now for old time’s sake and everything he does in the show just reminds me more and more of myself.

It’s almost as if Kohei Horikoshi somehow knew of me and made me into a fictional character. Okay okay I’ll stop now, lol

It's too hard for me to pick one from Sonic because I love them all too much. I grew up with the series and even though it's had a bad streak of games for awhile, it hasn't faltered my love for it. So instead I'll mention my character, Raven. Raven I feel very connected with, not because he's like me, but he's the badass I want to be. His design is inspired from my love for the Sonic franchise. I've been working on his story for years and years in my head and it's gone through a lot. He has a sweetheart named Reina that a lot of his story involves finding her again.

hoo boy here’s my time to shine. so james from teotfw owns my heart 100% - he’s a messed up character who had a very questionable beginning but his character development in the span of 8 30-mins-of-less episodes is absolutely phenomenal and is the best character development i’ve ever seen. he’s such a softie and he’s just so, so good. i don’t agree with everything he’s done and he’s done some very awful things but his change from an emotionless teenager who believes himself to be a psychopathic to a soft adult who finally lets himself feel things, he’s a good character and he’s just,, so wonderful <3

Alright time to talk about a lot of characters from the 90s reboot legion of superheroes because I love them

So starting off with Gates who is a character who came around in this version. Gates is my favorite for a number of reasons; he has a very neat design, his concept is interesting in that he is the only unwilling member of the legion, his power of teleportation I think is super neat, and he's a socialist bug who's bitter towards humanoids which is a huge mood.

He also has a lot of interesting stories. In the reboot he got trapped in "our time" (worth noting that legion of superheroes takes place in the 31st century), which proved to have a lot of interesting interactions in being a non humanoid alien on an Earth where that's not as accepted yet. In a time travel/manipulation story, he also gets placed in the 60s during the cold war, which serves as being one of my favorite stories in that it's hilarious to see a character who's a socialist that looks like a monster placed in that situation.

He's probably one of my favorite characters of all time ngl

Then another character I love is Triad. She legitimately is one of the best rep I have seen for multiple systems and I don't think that was even intentional. Triad is of a species that triplicate themselves, but the duplicates don't typically act any differently from one another. With Triad however, they all act differently and the three are shown to have differing opinions, personalities, etc. They even get into fights and severe disagreements at certain times. This is also addressed in her backstory, as the triplicates being different people is considered to be extremely bad on their home planet, and it's shown that them growing up as different people cased many issues for them growing up. I drew a lot of parallels between my system and even real world ableism.

Again I don't know if Triad was intention and I kind of doubt she was, but she is still one of my favorite plural coded characters in that she's a superhero who plays an important role on the team and her plurality isn't a one off thing and is addressed in most stories she's centered around. I kind of want to buy some of the comics she's in because not gonna lie, she really helped us accept being plural.

then it also made it even worse when the current run of the legion started off with an ableist stereotype and they aren't three separate people anymore but one person who can just triplicate. bendis, how dare you

I also want to mention Invisible Kid and Brainiac 5. Both are characters I like individually granted everyone loves Brainiac 5 for some reason, and in this version they actually develop feelings for eachother. It's a kind of cool rivals to lovers relationship that I wish was shown more before the series was canceled. Invisible Kid's a character I like the personality of and Brainiac 5 is a neat character, and they are kind of cool together in both being the team's scientists but in different ways. I like both of them individually, and I think they're adorable together

Special shoutout to Ferro, XS, and Sensor who are characters I also like and could gush on but this is getting long enough

Though if anyone wants to read this version of the Legion, as a heads up they did this weird thing where the stories went between two different comic series? And didn't even start until different issues in. As much as I love and recommend the 90s legion, it is extremely confusing to read rip

Honestly, a character who I treasure to this day and have treasured since I was a middle schooler was Itachi from Naruto. I know that he’s a pretty commonly loved character, but I’ve always felt a special bond with him in particular over any other character in any other show for some odd reason. Maybe it’s because I am also the oldest sibling in my family and always got an overload of family expectations and super high standards I was always pushed to aim towards, but there’s just something about him that’s just...enchanting.

Not to mention I just love his character design and, even though Naruto does do this with almost all the main characters, his backstory broke my heart. I just love his presence in the show and everything his character does to make the show what it is. When I was in middle school, I even carried around a chibi plushie of him on my belt loop of all my clothes everywhere I went. He would be with me whether I was at school, home, eating, even sleeping!

mae from night in the woods is definitely my favorite character ever. the depiction of mental illness & small town plight really hits home and i relate to her character's identity crisis and mental decline more than anything i've ever encountered. i play that game so much & watch other people play it all the time.
