• Guest, can you feel the love in the air? Valentine's Week at The Bell Tree has begun with a new mini-event featuring four activities to enjoy -- new and returning collectibles are up for grabs! Dive in to the love here.

You know you're an adult when...

When you're watching The Little Mermaid with your little cousin and Ariel's like "I'm sixteen! I'm not a child anymore!" and you die laughing.

Recently, it's been when my boyfriend and I were checking out curtains, desks, and humidifiers. We're probably going to be looking into getting a tv with maybe a stand or extra storage for ourselves soon.

Or anytime you're at the market getting a crapload of groceries. Yep. =v=

When you find yourself all alone at 13,000 ft. on some god forsaken mountain, it's raining, you're cold, and all you have is what you bothered to carry this far on your back.

When all you know is the road. What's up ahead? When will you be picked up if you're thumbing and by whom? Where are you gonna sleep tonight?

When you're in a third world country, surrounded by an unfamiliar landscape, language, faces; may as well be on an alien world. And you have no map.

Nobody is there to hold your hand and tell you it's gonna be okay, nobody is there to tell you what to do or how to do it. The only thing to do is to man up and tough it out, figure it out, and survive. It's probably far easier to just sit in your safe space apartment all day though.

I remember growing up little things like driving a car, using my own credit card or doing my own grocery shopping really made me feel more grown up. Now all I can think of is crippling debt as the thing that defines adulthood.

Simply turning 19 last month was like a slap in the face. :(

I already feel very old and I think that the best years of my life are behind... My gf thinks I'm pathetic over this xD

Oh no, you're 19!! That was the best time of my life, I'd passed my driving test, was in a good job, had no health problems...al went downhill after I turned 20.
I'm sure that cheered you up ;)
Seriously though, things do change after you leave your teenage years, they were certainly easier years but there is a lot left to look forward to.

Also, I know I am still only a young adult, but I really start to feel old when I start to see my once baby cousins grow into older children who are starting secondary school or in their last years of primary school. I'm the oldest out of my cousins on the paternal side of my family, and the third oldest on the maternal side (my two oldest cousins are in their thirties now), so I've always felt like the grown-up one. But now they're starting to grow up and it's like what no you're like a baby still. ;v; It's especially weird as I am exactly 10 years older than one of my cousins, so now she's like 8, turning 9, and that just feels so strange to me.

Oh yes, all of my friends now have children except for one and she's in a long term relationship so it won't be long before she joins the club and watching them growing up is frightening. They're babies one moment and the next they're starting college (slight exaggeration) and you're wondering where your years went. Time at school seemed to drag out, for me at least, the years since have flown
Seeing my cousins little ones growing really freaks me out. The one is 10 already....I have a photo of myself with her when she was a baby and I was much more youthful. So depressing

This!! I literally did this with my cousin when babysitting her when she was still a toddler... She's 18 now and at university. I hadn't long turned 18 myself at the time (I was around 15 when she was born) but oh my ****ing god I can remember laughing and laughing and laughing at that line, just at the absurdity of it. I wonder if she remembers? Hahaha I'm bringing this up next family catchup!

Also getting excited about furniture, decor. Like I just got curtains and new pillowcases, and we are getting a new dresser and selling our old bulky one we don't really utilize, and I got a new set of storage drawers and once the new dresser comes it will be fun being able to move out furniture around and re-doing the layout of the room

I'm feeling pretty old now that my youngest cousins, who I babysat as a teenager, are now teenagers themselves :I

when you finally realize how boring it is when you see kids on the Internet whining everyday about lame subjects

When you realize teenagers these days were born in the 2000's
O.O Like when did that happen?
Frick I'm old.
