Your Top Villagers

Top 20... I can barely choose top 10 XD But I came up with this list:

This was hard, but from left to right: (Not in any order)

Top- Papi, Molly, Judy, Teddy Skye, Chai, Wolfgang, Diana, Boots, Zucker.
Bottom- Cookie, Alfonso, Chelsea, Marhsal, Bluebear, Julian, Dobie, Rosie, Erik, Audie.

Pretty much all of them have a small special place in my heart. Especially Alfosno and Wolfgang as they are my all-time favourites.

Alfonso, Boots, Bluebear, Chai, Teddy, Wolfgang were all babies I had in New Leaf, so I am quite attached to them.

The rest I fell in love with from playing ACNH.

My dreamies have changed quite a bit since 7 years ago (I started playing on ACNL), but if there’s one villager I really liked since their release, it’s definitely Etoile! I’ve adored her for years but didn’t have the means of getting her back in ACNL, so with the Sanrio release in ACNH, I was so ecstatic to be finally able to bring her home. c: I remember being obsessed with visiting random DAs in ACNL just to see Etoile, haha. She’s definitely my favorite villager!

Bea and Sherb are the next ones on my favorite list, I’ve been attached to them since playing ACPC and have them as villagers in ACNH. They’re in my first island Milkiss!

The other “dreamie” villagers change depending on my mood and theme, but some notable dreamies I’ve had are Hugh, Ruby, Goldie, Daisy, Vesta, Lucky, Felicity, and Pinky. I adore them all!

Originally my favorite was Kid Cat. But then I met Sterling, Rudy, Punchy, Bob & Rolf. They have been constantly at the top of my list since then.

My favorites keep changing. But playing New Horizons has really given me a better look at my villagers. In no particular order, here's my current top 20:

Sterling, Rolf, Punchy, Rudy, Bob, Lobo, Dobie, Maple, Hans, Kid Cat, Curt, Leonardo, Rod, Kiki, Lily, Tasha, Agent S, Whitney, Buzz & Ankha.

If you ask me to list them down again tomorrow, this list might change.

now I don’t really have a dreamy list. I mean there are villagers I love more than others (Biskit, Bruce, Vesta, Chester, and Sylvana to name a few), but I am not particularly picky about who’s on my island anymore (unless it’s Moose).

on that note, my top 20 villagers (only the first 3 are In order) are: Bruce, Biskit, Vesta, Chester, Sylvana, Stitches, Lucky, Dobie, Ketchup, Diva, Frobert, Blanche, Cranston, Kabuki, Coco, Vivian, Fang, Peewee, Jitters, and Raddle. :>

Since I really started the AC franchise with New Horizons I don't know if I can answer your first question, but what I can say is that you have to met villagers to see if you like them since ingame animations are a huge part of what makes them lovable or not.
Some dreamies can surely change over time...

For the rest I will only tell you about my Top 15 at the moment to leave spaces for the new villagers arrival...

My top 20 villagers are as follows:

My first Animal Crossing game was New Leaf, so my love for 16/20 of these came from there. Judy completely stole my heart when New Horizons came out. She and Marshal are the loves of my life. I anticipate having at least one villager from the new DLC coming out becoming a favorite on this list.

My favorites haven't changed much at all... I keep going back to the same villagers, though I do switch some out often just to see new faces.

Fauna, Diana, Coco, Marina, and Chrissy are probably my top favorites and appear in both my New Leaf and New Horizons towns. Twiggy, Zucker, Lolly, Tia, Molly and Maple are up there, too.

My first Animal Crossing game was the GCN version wayyy back when. I remember really liking Ed and Gonzo in particular back then. Ed for reasons that I don't really know now, but Gonzo I still really like as a villager, and he has a special place on my current island. I believe that this is associated with his overall personality and the catchphrase "mate." I loved everything Steve Irwin as a child, and studied the flora and fauna of Australia extensively as a kid because of Irwin's influence. When Irwin passed away in 2006, I remember being devastated. I recall booting up my dusty ol' GCN AC file and seeing Gonzo wandering out and about shortly after this occurred, and for some reason his character held extremely deep meaning for me as this connection formed between Gonzo and the overall Australian mannerisms, both anatomically as a koala bear, and because of his mannerisms and catchphrase. I don't see this ever changing.

Anywho, sappy story out of the way: Another villager I like is Audie. I love her concept (likely name origin and significance) as well as her style being a phenotypical fox, while also being a wolf. These are two animals that I quite like irl. Erik is also a favourite because he is a phenotypic moose from a deer, and his likely gesture to Norse mythology possibly being a nod to Erik the Red. Phoebe is another similar case being a phoenix portrayal from an ostrich.

As for a top 20, I'm not overly sure. I like penguin and wolf villagers in general. I also like villagers who are phenotypically spiced up to be seen as an animal other than their set category, like the above mentioned villagers and some others like Anabelle or Julia.

my first animal crossing game was wild world, when i was a kid, and although i don't totally remember my first town (i have a habit of constantly restarting, even as a kid lol!) bella, blaire, and bree stick out in my mind. i think they were in my first town and i really enjoyed talking to them!

new leaf was when i kinda joined the online animal crossing community, (just following tumblr blogs lol) but i don't think i really had any dreamies, maybe marshall i believe? but i think that was just because he was popular haha. but in new leaf i had beau and zell, who quickly became my favorites, zell was such a cool smug villager and beau was so sweet as a lazy

now for new horizons, beau is my favorite villager, so i'm definitely trying to get him back, zell probably won't be a permanent villager, but i definitely want him for a bit! but now that the villagers are kinda more visual focused rather than dialogue focused, i kinda choose my dreamies just based on their looks now. i really want coco, vivian, bob, chai, toby, and ione, shino, and sasha look really cool too! but i'm not super picky as i'll try to befriend all of the villagers that i meet

Maybe it will change a little bit after finding more out about marlo, petri, and sasha. maybe.
(I gotta say, Megan is my favorite normal hands down not sure about other personalities yet)
New Horizons was my first animal crossing game, but I have started New Leaf which I am enjoying more so far. It was amazing too much how much some of the villager homes have changed, and I am curious if the homes play a role in if a villager is someone's liked or favorite because the home kinda drops clues to the background story of a character. Either way I am appreciating every character in animal crossing more after see these changes.
