XY was easier difficulty wise than SM, SM was easier than XY in how it basically held your hand through the main SL imo

Yeah, Gen 1 is pretty glitchy, but you either need to be intentionally looking for glitches, or playing really weirdly. If you just try play from start to finish normally you'll probably not encounter any.
I actually think the Gen 7 starters and legendaries (par the Tapu's) are pretty bad. I'd also prefer good gameplay over nice graphics.

They're still good games but they're way too linear and babied down that they're not as fun anymore. It's lost it's sense of exploration.
I probably liked Sun and Moon more, but both X&Y and S&M are probably at the bottom if I were to rank all Pokemon games.
