The ship landed in a forested area near a river.

Flynn walked alongside the river for a few hours to reach the permanent settlement, but before doing that, he set up a small camp for the night a short distance away from the ship.

You could comment seeing remnants of a small camp then continue walking to meet up with the others?

The ship landed. Three of the crew members tried to run away and steal all the food. They were killed by deadly plants. The group made a small camp by the river at night because it was late. They then found a bigger area where they could set up the permanent civilization.

Your character could wake up to find everyone gone except the captain, Flynn, left you a map and a set of directions to find them, etc.

btw, majority of supplies are already packed so you don't need to bring much with you.
