Well, it's not just the symbol either. It's the effects associated with it as well. Lightning effects look kick ***.
You're lucky your username can be summed up in a tiny icon (the thunder). Makes it easy to water mark. It does really looks great.
Default size on the site is 100x100. You can upgrade to 150x100. Question: Do only staff have 150x150 avatars? From what I've seen, that's the case.
