I think the magic being in those colors has to do with the type of magic they use. It reminds me a bit of the old final fantasy games where there were red mages, blue mages, etc

The colors when it comes to summoning is a bit confusing to me as well. Usually I try to figure it out by what type of weapon they use. Then you click on a color circle to summon, it tells you at the bottom what kind of weapon user it will summon. I have a feeling that Jacob would be either purple or blue based on his weapon, but I'm not entirely sure.

If you have a space two away from who you want to attack, what I do is drag the hero over the space I want them to go to, then continue dragging them over who I want them to attack. It's a bit tricky and you have to be careful not to lift your finger up at all.
Also the orbs are for summoning new heroes to your allies. If you click on 'summon' at the bottom of the main screens, there are a couple different summoning events you can pick from. You select which event you want, then use the orbs to summon. Each event has a list of particular heroes you can summon, so you might not get who you want if they aren't part of that list.

Congrats on getting the blue candy. I saw they were available after I got home from work, but they sold out before I even had a chance to get it. I see you got a blue candy during a restock, so that is good. I had no opportunity to get you one, but I am glad you found an opportunity to get it.
