Switch Recommendations

My husband and I just got a switch, but we only have two games for it (Mario Kart and LoZ: Breath of the Wild). I pretty much only play Animal Crossing, Skyrim, Stardew Valley, and Crusader Kings II. He pretty much only plays Madden and Diablo. What games should we think about adding to our Switch collection that are sort of like the games we already play? I have no clue where to even begin because I'm old and out of touch with the youth. :/

If you're looking for games to play together, I suggest...
- Overcooked 1 & 2 (has the perfect balance of fun and challenging)
- Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze (very challenging co-op)
- Pokken Tournament (if you like fighter games)
- Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle (haven't played this one myself but have heard good things about it)
- Go Vacation (haven't played this one either, but if you ignore the reviews a lot of users really enjoyed it on the Wii)
- Rocket League (drive cars in a crazy stadium environment trying to shoot balls into enemy goals. Not for everyone, but it's a popular one)

If you're looking for individual games to play, then maybe...
- Super Mario Odyssey (explore open world and taking on the challenge of finding all the moons will add tons of play value)
- Octopath Traveler (haven't played this one, but it's a turn-based RPG with a 3D environment and supposedly good story)
- Little Dragons Cafe (the price is a little too much for this game, but if you're looking for a light-hearted game to play, people said they enjoyed it)
- Sonic Mania (okay this one doesn't really fit into your guys game list, but it's classic Sonic. What's not to love!)
- Kirby Star Allies (this one is really light in terms of difficulty. It also has co-op so you can play with your husband)

Other Games...
- Hollow Knight (Challenging 2D platformer that will have you exploring a dark environment while the difficulty of facing tough enemies along the way)
- Splatoon 2 (has both a story mode and tons of online modes to play as a Inkling or Octoling. I have a lot of criticisms for this one in terms of the decisions made for a lot of the multiplayer, but I think it's worth it)
- Arms (fun, but lacks a wide variety of content to make it worthwhile)

I honestly just recommend branching out a bit from your comfort zone. The Switch has a lot to offer. The games can be a little pricey compared to other platforms so definitely watch gameplay or try any available demos before making a final decision. The games you guys picked out right now are a lot of fun.

My friend was telling me about Octopath Traveler last night. I might check it out next payday, lol.

Have you tried the puyo puyo tetris demo? The only things locked out from the demo is story mode, endless (and a few other modes) and online play. Otherwise it's pretty much a free game.

I recommend Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, the Switch version has some extra stuff.
I'd suggest Hollow Knight, but I feel it's easier to manage on PC with a controller.

What makes it different from regular tetris? Cause I suck at regular tetris, lol.

If you like RPG's, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is so so good. I haven't played any of the previous games but I absolutely fell in love with it. Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors are super fun and great if you want a pretty easy Strategy/Hack & Slash game. Umm what else....Oh! Ittle Dew 2+ is a FANTASTIC little game. It has very Zelda-esque gameplay and is quite cute too. Lastly, I'll forever and always recommend the Crash Bandicoot: N Sane Trilogy and, if it comes to the Switch, the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. I could recommend a ton more, but those are some of my favs right now

Edit: OH DUH, there's also Super Mario Odyssey which is extremely fun with a lot of extra gameplay once you beat the main story. I'd also like to add in Kirby Star Allies which is especially great if you want a fun little laid back game to play together. Okay, NOW I'm done lol

Puyopuyo tetris is puyo puyo + tetris. Puyopuyo is strategically connecting at least 4 coloured blobs to form combos.
If you don't like tetris, you might like puyo puyo. There's puyo puyo only and tetris only modes, interchanging modes every 30 seconds or so, or even having both puyo blobs and tetrominos on the screen at the same time.

Pokken Tournament and Splatoon 2 are really good games

Breath of the Wild and Skyrim are the games I play the most, but Rocket League and Splatoon 2 are definite good ones!!

Xbox is great

For RPGs, I'd wholly recommend Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (definitely a JRPG with heavy anime influences and whatnot), but it's amazingly good AND there's gonna be an additional story added onto it, Torna: The Golden Country, which you can get with the expansion pass or as a standalone physical game. Octopath Traveler is...good for what it is. Story isn't stellar, but the gameplay, design and soundtrack are all amazing. Then there's the old staples: Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, etcetera. I have yet to play Captain Toad or Kirby Star Allies, but I've heard good things about them.

I've only played a little bit of Kirby Star Allies, but I do recommend it. Of course, there's Splatoon 2 as well. Not as good as the original in my eyes, but still a great game. I would also recommend Captain Toad if you like something laid-back. Even Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is worth it.

If you want a game that will last you an extremely long time, I'd suggest monster hunter generations ultimate. It has a rather large learning curve, but when you get good at the game it's the greatest thing ever.

There is a huge level of depth and customization available compared to any of the other games in the series and I've been playing it non stop since it was released early last week.

My friend is obsessed with Monster Hunter. Might give it a try.
