Do You Plan on Buying Switch 2 within first week of Launch?

Will probably wait until Legends Z-A Switch 2 Edition comes out, then buy them both at the same time.
Unless I find out something unforeseeable about Z-A that's a dealbreaker... šŸ˜°

I was planning on getting it at launch, but the Direct changed my mind. The price is putting me off, but also the lack of first-party games at launch (other than Mario Kart World). I always like having a big, epic one-player game when I get a new system (usually a new Mario or Zelda game), so I don't think Mario Kart is enough for me. I may wait for Metroid Prime 4, or at least Donkey Kong Bananza if it turns out to be great (I'm not sold on it yet, though).

Most likely, yes. My boyfriend wants one so we're getting it. I originally wanted my own but after giving it some thought, I decided it's smarter to wait and see if a new Animal Crossing is announced. In the meantime, the new Tomodachi Life will keep me entertained, and Iā€™ll still be able to enjoy the new Mario Kart either way.

Now that there is a delay in the presale for the USA to account for the tariffs I am a little worried about how much more expensive it will be. If it's going to be 600+ dollars I'm not sure I will get it because for me it does not make sense to spend that much on a console. I'm hoping it won't be that much more than it is now but I just have a sinking feeling it will be.

I'm concerned about the battery. Sounds like it doesn't last as long, and even if it does, apparently Nintendo have been hoarding all the consoles for months anyway to combat supply issues. My prospective switch 2 is probably in some dark cold warehouse right now losing its cells

I don't know yet. I think I waited about 2.5 years to buy a Switch. I'm not super excited for the games coming out on launch or in 2025, either. A lot of the games I'm excited for are launching on both Switch and Switch 2.

Initially when I saw the console, I was ready to get it on launch. But that changed when I saw the launch titles, as none of them are series I'm super into. I may end up getting some of those titles when I do decide to buy, but there's nothing there I have to have.

honestly, I probably will just buy it on release. the money I have put aside for it won't change, whether I spend it at the moment or wait for more games to release it won't change anything for me. unless something serious were to happen that would cause me to need to really dip into my savings I will probably just buy it sooner rather than later. I waited to buy the first switch (I couldnt afford to spend the money outright on release) but this time I dont need to. šŸ˜Š

I'm feeling conflicted based on everything I've seen and heard about the Switch 2. Part of me wants to get it to play GameCube games (I recently learned that it's only exclusive to the Switch 2 and not the original Switch). Still, the other part of me is holding off, not because of the price but because the features I'm hearing about are disappointing. The battery life is not much better than the original Switch, and that was a major turn-off for me. Why is this acceptable in 2025, when they release a robust system that drains a significant amount of battery, yet they cannot be bothered to improve its battery life? It's just inexcusible. Also, I don't plan on getting the games at launch. I know this is beating a dead horse at this point, but the prices are just too high even to buy a game. I am okay with spending $60.00 on a new game, but anything higher than that is where I draw the line so that I will wait for a discount. I may get it during Christmas or next year, but at this point, I don't see myself buying the Switch 2.

I planned on it, but the tariffs and pricing up in the air I think I will wait. I am notoriously patient, so if the situation gets better, I will see where I'm at.

If Nintendo announces a new Animal Crossing game, I will be tempted early. But for now, I will wait out the mood of the world's governments... (a bunch of bickering *******s)

Heard it's supposed to go live today (preorders), share here if you manage to secure a console !

Turns out I've actually had one on back order with shopto since January. I've just paid it off.

Turns out I've had a backorder of a switch 2 on shopto since January so I've just paid that off completely. All I fancy now is a GCN controller

I wasn't planning to unless an AC game comes out. Because there's no way I'm buying some glorified Switch premium pack, plus with the stuff going on here in the US right now. I can barely afford it right now.

I feel bad about posting this here, but Iā€™m probably simply never going to buy one.

Iā€™m not really enamored with Nintendo games anymore and Iā€™m pretty tired of console issues compared to PC. Combined with that price itā€™s an easy miss, my absolute cap on any console was AU$500 and it still would have had to do a lot to win me over.

I did buy 3DS, Wii U and Switch at launch and you need to go in with certain expectations when you buy a console at launch. Itā€™s obvious and itā€™s fine but I donā€™t really have an interest in the ā€œinitial hypeā€ etc. that would outweigh initial costs and waiting for the library to fill or waiting for some obvious inevitable titles. If I was gonna buy a Switch 2 it would have been for Animal Crossing, but Iā€™m not buying hardware on the promise of something coming out again because I just feel like itā€™s a worse deal.

No, the console seems too pricey for me right now, especially since the games are going to be costing a fortune as well.

I would have to see what games are being released for the Switch 2 before even considering

No, I pretty much never buy consoles right at launchā€”I like to wait for the game library to build up a bit, and for any inevitable hardware/design issues with the original model to be addressed. Though in this particular case, I'm also not a big fan of the idea of paying $70-$80 USD for individual games (that I'd only ever play in handheld mode anyway), when that's normally what I'd pay for a limited edition set or the base game + DLC on the Switch. The price hike killed a lot of my hype and took me from planning to buy the Switch 2 "in a year or two" to "eventually, probably".
