Cultures + New Screenshots!

At a Nintendo event in Mexico it was recently released that there will be a Spanish version of that game that will also be incorporating cultural elements! This is exciting not only because we will have yet another translation of the game but the concept of adding more cultures into animal crossing is always fun.

These may be regional of course and limited to either this version of the game or geographic location of where you are playing like with the Japanese versions having different holidays and special event items. But with the other feature of choosing north of southern hemisphere I'm wondering if they will be adding any more cultural elements? It seems like they are already putting so much effort into making the game more true to real-life and I'm so excited! Maybe at the start we can pick what culture we identify with, that would be fun!

One cultural event I am especially interested in seeing is dia de los muertes and how Nintendo plans on making that into an event. Maybe decorating an ofrenda with the villagers and being able to type whose picture you are putting up, the island being covered in marigolds, or an item that lets you spread marigolds on the ground would be amazing. As well as food items specific to latinx/Hispanic cultures. I'm just so excited!

I'd love to see the Mexican Day of the Dead as a cultural holiday!

One of my favorite things are geography and culture so it would be nice to see this.

i would love to see more cultural events, Im hoping that with being able to choose our region we will get more cultural events based on our region. im also looking forward to a hot sandy christmas like we get in Australia.

While there's nothing unusual about this given what happened between different games in the past, it's certainly a treat for those countries who have been left out and their localizations were only a translation of another country's. It'll be nice to see more countries getting items and possibly holidays.

I wanna see more Chinese things in the game lol I know there's quite a few already I think but still. I'm Chinese so I always get excited whenever I see items related to it.

I'm wondering how many cultural holidays will be added to the game. Can they fit them all in? Though I highly doubt it, and where did you get those images?

Ahhh, new events!
I hope I can visit someone's town one day to participate if it is more than just getting an item from an NPC.

Also, I wonder what other facial features we can change.
Not going to lie I think I like the default nose more.

This game looks so pretty and polished. I honestly cannot wait to play it. I like how it seems like there's way more character customization right off the bat.

I love the textures, it just makes everything come to life a bit more.
Definitely getting a pocket camp vibe!

Nice clothing and different noses.

This is so exciting! I love that dress. I wonder what other cultures will be included.

First of all, the whole thing about the cultural elements sounds really interesting. I guess they will be lots of people active at Re-Tail to get all culture exclusive items together, lol. Otherwise, there are some points about these screenshots which caught my attention:

- As already mentioned, the nose shape. Never thought they would make other shapes available besides the iconic triangle shape, this was really a huge surprise for me to be honest. Also, if you take a closer look, you can see that the female character has a square shaped nose, while the male character a round shape

- Besides the nose shapes, even the smile of your character can look different now. Compare both characters in the screenshots, you can see that the male one as a cat smile :3 instead of the typical smile . Now that's pretty neat!

- Unless it's not a wig, the female character has a hair style which was not available in the previous games. Looks cute!

- Long dresses from Pocket Camp confirmed

- Both characters seems to be in different towns, as the layout is different (river is missing in the screenshots with the female character for example)

- Judging by the fact that both characters seem to be in the north part of the island and only cedar trees are around them, I assume cedar trees are yet again 'north part' - exclusive. Then again, I still hope however that they only make this like that for the presentation and that you can maybe plant them this time also at the south part (I finally want my cedar trees only town, dang it...)

- There are yet again those cliffs in the background and the weird way (?) to the unknown area of the island. What's weird is, is that in the screenshot where the male character is fishing, the space between the two cliffs on the left and right side looks bigger than in the screenshot with the female character catching bugs. Sure, it can be the camera perspective, but even then one of them looks slightly bigger than the other. Maybe this has something to do with the layout of the town? And it's still a mystery what that area could be...

Overall, really happy to finally having some new informations about New Horizons. Hope to get more in the next weeks (like, if the AC main twitter account would finally start tweeting about the game, ugh).

I mentioned this on Discord but I'm thinking it will be a feature that islands can have different options for type of environment. All the trees in those screenshots are cedar. Also makes me wonder if there will be new trees in the game!
