Here is a flashback thread you can post to share how you were in the year 2006. No, it doesn't have to be what you did on September 29th, 2006. It doesn't even have to relate to September of 2006 either. I would be interested into talking about how different you were back then compared to today. What were your interests at the time? What were you doing or taking in school? Were there any interests you had back then that were the same as today's? Remember that this thread is about your life in 2006, not other years (maybe except the first half of 2007, but that's it).

My story:

2006 was the year I turned 13 years old (the first of the teenage years). In the second half, I was in the 8th grade (the last year in middle school). I remember being one of the Geometry students (someone who was in 8th grade Geometry). I also remember that I got a PlayStation 2 for my birthday. As much as I liked playing the GameCube, the PlayStation 2 was the primary console I played that year. My favorite games were the Sly Cooper trilogy and Neopets: The Darkest Faerie. Speaking of that, I used to go to Neopets a lot. It was a family thing. I used to read Lego magazines a lot (I don't do that anymore). I was collecting Bionicle sets (even if 2006 was the year that it started going downhill). I used to play with my turtle plushes a lot more often.

Amazing facts about my life:

- Before I was huge into apples, sea turtles were my big interest.
- My siblings and I had our own GameCubes back then.
- I lived in a total of 8 apartments and houses in my lifetime. In 2006, I lived in a townhouse apartment.
- Even if I was a member in Neopets in 2006, I never joined a forum prior to 2008. I did enjoy the days I was free from social media anyway, but my view of the world was very small back then (I didn't even know about video game ratings or video game popularity).
- Before 2014, I wasn't a movie person. I didn't even like family time.

I shared my story on how I was back then, how was yours?

In 2006 I didn't even know the DS existed because I still had a big backlog of GBA games to play

10 years ago I was 16 years old. I had just started college was a time where I spent a lot of time partying and not really spending much time on my studies. I spent a lot of time in online games at that point. I was playing a MMORPG called Guild wars and this ate up hours of my day. I also played a lot of AC:WW which was my second animal crossing game. It was a time where I craved social interaction.

I was working from home as a childcare provider. Taking care of my two kids, the house, the pets, my husband, and paying all the bills. I was Super Woman. Lol.

I was really into scrapbooking, reading, crossword puzzles, and video games. Now I like gardening ( a lot ) reading, and video games. Not much has changed.

10 years ago I was going from 11th grade to 12th grade. I was, well, a teenager. >.< I was a black hole of depressingness (I say that as opposed to 'depression', because there is a distinction), I was also quite literally a drama queen - I caused drama in pretty much every setting I was in.

Although the more I think about it, the more I recognize I haven't changed as much as I like to believe.

2006 was such good times, though. It really shapes my interests today. I solidified my three favorite instruments that year (bassoon, saxophone, and oboe). Although I totally obsessed over the bassoon, I think by at least late 2006, I was torn between the three. I didn't let that show, and picked the bassoon. Now look which instrument I'm playing. I wouldn't be telling a lie if I said back then I honestly thought "Maybe I should go with the oboe instead". But it's fine, I consider having played the bassoon worthwhile, and I think everything that came together over the last few years to get me playing the oboe and get me back into music after I had given up is truthfully beautiful (it couldn't have set itself up any time before it did. Very strange). I wouldn't take it back!

Enough about what happened post-2006, though! 2006 was home to the one other weird story in my life that felt like something straight out of fiction - my senior season of marching band. It was both amazing for myself individually and the whole group.

In 2006 I was in 6th grade, and around this time of year my school would bring the 6th graders on a trip to the nearby state park to teach them survival skills.

I was best friends with somebody who I met because we were both huge fans of Naruto at the time.
I don't hang out with them much anymore because they have three jobs and live out of where I can travel easily.
He's still a huge Naruto fan. Me not so much, though I still think really fondly of it. Maybe more so of the memories than the actual show, but it doesn't really matter to me.

in 2006, i was 5 and i was playing on my dad's old ps console, it was handheld and i loved playing it

In 2006, I was in middle school but not allowed to have video games yet... just PC games. So... very different back then.

in '06 I was an 11 y/o cringey loser weeb

now I am a 21 y/o less cringey loser weeb with a job

technically i wasnt 11 yet and im not 21 yet but close enough

Alright...10 years ago I was 17. I was at college studying for and NVQ in childcare.
I can't actually remember all too much about that time....I recall I started working in my first school. Not long after I would meet the person who I would have my first proper relationship with.
I had a Yorkshire terrier at the time and an African grey parrot. Sadly my dog passed away and the parrot I had to find another home for, as he reached maturity he started to bite us and when a parrot bites you, you know about it.

I think that was a pretty good time in my life. I had lots going on but I was much more sociable then than I am now. I remember going to the local arcades with my friend, the friend I haven't now seen in over a year.
Can't remember what games and things I was playing at the time...I didn't own a DS at that point though, only an Xbox.

I was 13 and slooting it up online with lots and lots of strangers, playing a butt ton of RuneScape XD and pimping out my Myspace and my several fake myspace pages as well. Ah good times.

In 2006, I was 6 / 7 and obessed with my new pink DS Lite. My favourite games were Hamsterz and Theme Park. I loved Barbie, and my biggest fear was anyone from school finding out I *still* liked it. It's funny that I was sooo embarrassed to admit I still watched animated TV shows because the people that said they did got teased. We were six!

Ten years ago I was 15 and I was a sophomore in high school and I had just had my first boyfriend &nd heartbreak. I spent a lot of time on MySpace and the chat lines lol

in 2006 i was in 8th grade and 14 as of April 2006. i was like this scene queen, really into the emo fashion and music and such, obsessed with horror and fashion and gaming and still am. ummm oh and somehow despite being in a wheelchair i got a lot of boy attention and popularity... but that was probably because i didn't really have a clique because i didn't rule anyone out

I was 6 in 2006 and I remember for the summer we were in Hong Kong.
