Mafia 1984 Mafia: TOWN WINS!

@Sarasa ill try to answer ur question in a minute but i wanted to ask Daniel why did you investigate Labelle over Ender... i think that might help me a lot.

unless Ender instructed her to.

@Sarasa ill try to answer ur question in a minute but i wanted to ask Daniel why did you investigate Labelle over Ender... i think that might help me a lot.

It was back when we where all thinking its LaBelle that I investigated her. She was the most scummy at the time.

Okay. Let?s start from the beginning.

Day 1
Endless brings up suspicion on Kat based on her response to the question he posed her. He believes her refusal to answer the question at first, then changing her mind later & answering it indicates she was more concerned with looking town to Endless than she was with whether or not the information would be more harmful to town than it was helpful. Kat comes back and says:
When Endless PM'd me asking for my power, I was skeptical at first and said I wouldn't give it to him, then I realized we could use it to stop fake claiming and then told him (main reason was that I wanted to hear his powers tbh, and that was the counter proposal).
You could use it to stop fake-claiming, sure. But by agreeing to the trade, at this point, you had to at least somewhat think Endless was town. If someone tried to fake-claim, Endless could just CC. And nobody would try to fake-claim Endless? role if he?d already died. So really, there was no town benefit to learning his role.

Now, note the bolded part. Kat wanted to hear Endless? powers. I?ve already established above that there was little to no town benefit to learning Endless? powers. But, there is a mafia motive - blue-sniping. If you know Endless has powers, he?s suddenly a great candidate for a night-kill. And being a strong player, it wouldn?t be suspicious for him to die N1. Also wanted to mention a point Runeraider made that everyone seemed to ignore:
I'm personally very annoyed that Kat gave away their role, especially if they were a blue.

Now, I still think that everything I wrote in this post still applies regarding appearance motives. However, when I wrote that post, I overlooked the obvious: actual information motives. i.e., I was considering how each of them would appear to the other based on their actions, while completely ignoring the powerful information on the table that was up for grabs. That changes things.

Slammint then comes in, votes on the Kat bandwagon, and gets immediately pinned down by Endless. Kat enters the picture & starts questioning them. This line stuck out to me:
Slammint, I know there isn't a lot to go off of, but if you had to pinpoint one person as scum, who would it be? Rather than being 100% random in your vote, try for your best educated guess.
Doesn?t seem like much, but in the context of them being on a mafia team together, it seems like a subtle attempt to steer attention off of them. Also, this whole exchange is weird:
Your my team mates! You should help me xD.
B. If you think I'm your team mate, then why're you voting me?
B: I'm not anymore, I came to my senses.
Could be nothing, could be something.

While people were humming and hawing over Endless, you were the first one to seriously suspect him, and also the first one to vote for him (not including Ender?s LOLvote). Ender agreed with you, and thus starts the bandwagon. Ding, dong, the witch is dead. Except he wasn't a witch, was he?

Night 1
Well ****, if he was town, that takes me back to the drawing board.

Gonna read though and see what I missed. Never quite caught the suspicions surrounding Slammint.
Literally the only thing I can think of as to why Slammint could be scum was that initial vote for me (if there's anything else, tell me). Which yeah... that's bad. But you all made it sound like theres absolutely no motivation for him voting me. I think it was bandwagoning, actually. I have a theory about it, but I have an idea...
Acknowledges the Slammint suspicions but doesn?t agree to them in subsequent posts. Also writes off the bandwagon vote for her.

Then, you post your reads. Pretty straightforward, then this:
Slammint seems to just be geniunely confused and trying to put something together, so I'm thinking he's alright (for now). That vote he made's a big no no though. My order, from least suspicious to most suspicious, is:

Panda
Bloop
Call Me Daniel
Slammint
Trojan
If you thought Slammint was alright, why did you put them as second-most suspicious? It makes you look good now that Slammint?s flipped red. Slammint then town-reads you (again). A point you keep driving for your case against me, but it applies to you too?
So you're saying that while you saw his point, you saw it only as a possibility, but thought that scum!Slammint would make much more sense? Alright.

My main reasoning at the time as to why I didn't think Slammint was as scummy as you and Endless thought was because I saw what she did as a bandwagon due to him thinking that others knew what to do better than what she knew. Did you consider that, and if so, why did you disregard that possibility?
More defending of Slammint.

In regards to Trojan:
Ok thats sus af. I'm pretty damn confidant he's scum.
Then, your next two posts:
Wait, you think someone saying another person was a Town PR is nothing much to think about?!
Why Trojan is PR:
He asked how you use a role. Implies Town PR as he asked in thread, rather than in a mafia chat of some kind (which we wouldn't see).
Then, you go on on to push Trojan as mafia (really strongly) in this post despite having acknowledged them as a PR above. Do you or do you not think Trojan's scum? Can't have both m'dear. I also love how you posted all of this under the guise of 'I might die tonight guys, carry on without me' knowing full well you weren't going anywhere (unless Trojan's shot had hit you, of course).

Day 2
I never said you were 100% confirmed, and I think I had a pretty damn good reason to say that you were practically confirmed maf. Good job on the shot, though.
This made me LOL.

You then go on to offer yourself up in sacrifice to the mafia gods. Not sure what you thought was going to happen there? 'She's volunteering to die for us, how noble, she must be town. ;-;"? Still don't understand this whole bit. If someone wants to shine some light on it that would be appreciated. Also, this post is the second time you'd suggested a third party in the game. Trying to create a distraction?

Day goes on. Ender pokes, you respond. Everyone decides you're pretty scummy. Looks like you're going home. Then, you post this...
@EVERYONE

Assume, just for a second, that I'm actually town. Who do you think is the last mafian?
...and Ender comes flying through the metaphorical door to save your butt. Lynch moves to me, then lynch moves to Bloobloop. I honestly don't really blame him - it looks town to me, too. And I don't blame the new players either - that whole situation was chaotic. But everything else points to you as the last mafia member, and I can't ignore that on what was likely an off-hand comment to pass time until lynch.
Oh **** this post is scummy as ****. I kinda read over the "love" part when I first read it I guess.

We do have 3 total lynches to burn though, at least. With 3 minutes, it kinda seems impossible to organize a new lynch. This is why we utilize the time that only I was on for like 6 hours.
During the chaos. Might be me misunderstanding your comment, but if we mislynch twice more mafia wins? Not sure how that means we have (had) three lynches to 'burn through'? Just one of those comments that made my gut go 'nope'.
I really hope BlooBloop's mafia. They're the only person I think it feasibly is if it isn't Labelle.
Great, except this completely contradicts the whole 'experienced mafia' thing you keep pushing.

Night 2
Sarasa is defending herself(?), in a situation where she's trying to prevent her own lynch, the sort of defeatedness is almost what I expected from scum.

But there is no motivation to ask that question. Most scum don't think to ask questions like that when dying. The LAST remaining scum will occasionally play for after the night phase, so it sounds like they are town. (Lynch x after me. Etc) but more often then not, they don't ask questions which lead to positive information flow. A question like that is very highly likely town. (I was also rereading and getting a funny feeling I was wrong too but yeah.)

Like, it's possible that scum!Sarasa said that, but I will honestly be VERY surprised.
The bolded is exactly what Kat did with Trojan N1.

Not much else to report on for N2. You questioned me, I responded.

Day 3
Now, to present day. Daniel reveals his reports. Kat immediately assumes I'm GF without hesitation. Ender follows her train of thought.

So there's my case. I was going to make a case for Ender's innocence as well, but to be honest, I don't see the point. You've already made your reasons for thinking Ender's innocent quite clear - they all make sense and I'm inclined to believe them. I will post a case if needed, though.

Blehhhhhhhg. Sorry I haven't been around. Pre-occupied with other things, and may have accidently screwed over my schedule today because I was too hyped about FW wrecking Koo.

Head is all messed up but will try to catch up by tonight. Before Worlds starts again.

Maybe I'll take a nap and get to things while watching worlds.

either way, just making sure people know I'm here and post is coming.

Labelle, jesus christ are you bad at taking me out of context. I'm replying rn and I'm just kinda... cringing. I'm curious as to what changed from earlier when you told me on Skype you thought Ender was more sus?

On Skype !?!?! Y'all chatting on skype about mafia ?

Sorry I'm on my phone been checking the thread while at work in gonna try to post tomorrow. And get some stuff together

Alright, it is early af here and I just got up, but I'm gonna try to reply to this to the best of my ability:

DAY ONE
@Wanting to know Endless's abilities:
One read through of that would have shown you my actual motive. See, the question itself that Endless asked me was suspicious. I wanted to know what his power were because if he claimed Watcher, that would make sense to me, while if he claimed no power, that would make him look like a blue-hunting mafian. I voiced this thought, actually.
Quite frankly, the question in the first place is kinda suspicious. Besides fake claiming prevention, I feel like its main use is night related. The only two night action reasons that made sense to me is if he were:

A: A Watcher. Not sure if you guys have played with one before, but they sit outside someone's house and see who visited them that night. Reason they'd want to know powers is so they could verify who they visited and what they did.

B: A mafian trying to organize who's important to kill.

If his motivation for asking such a question was night actions, then these are the two options I see. And I can tell you right now that he didn't say he was a Watcher. So this leads me to think he could be maf.
"Why'd you go along with it then if you think it was so suspicious omfg"
I felt that knowing his answer would be essential in either furthering my suspicion or taking the edge off of it.
@Seriously suspecting Endless:
I voted him for the reasons stated above. I was actually the very first person to be suspicious of Endless. But after his explanation of reaction testing, I took my vote off. Why? It made sense. From that point on, I wasn't really sure what to think about Endless. He had done suspicious things in my book, but I really liked his reaction from our little conversation there. Before I could serious him and haw over it, I had to leave for work.

You, however, made me out as a big player in getting him lynched at that second half. That just isn't true.
@Other D1 gripes:
First off, you only have these points if you assume I'm mafian, which makes them kind of weak, but ok.

A. I was trying to get Slammint to contribute. She was "completely random" with her last vote. If that was the case, then she needed to provide more logical explanations. Are you saying I was wrong in getting people to try to more productively contribute?

B. I had a similar conversation with Trojan N2, except he never responded to me.
NIGHT ONE
@Slammint suspicions:
No, I didn't agree with them. I still don't agree with them, actually. I know that Slammint ended up being mafia, but I still don't agree on why she was brought up in the thread in the first place. It just doesn't make sense. For the writing off the bandwagon thing, you're right. I did. I saw her as a new player, and therefore wouldn't be surprised by the bandwagon, regardless of faction.

Unless you can explain how she was actually suspicious?
@Putting Slammint as the second most sus:
She was the second most suspicious. She was also pretty townie in my book. I thought everyone else acted pretty damn townie, while Trojan was acting pretty damn scummy. I'm sorry my ordering didn't please you. :lemon:
@Trojan PR:
I was providing the explanation given earlier - I had missed it. However, I still think he was being suspicious. Providing an explanation of someone else's train of thought and your train of thought are two different things.
Also, that transition seems to be you crafting pathos without any logic. Nice try :)
DAY TWO
@ Offering myself up:
I knew I looked suspicious, and I was confidant it was you at that point due to my theory. I figured if I died, it would make it obvious that you were the last mafian, and you would be lynched the next game. Good game, well played, pack your bags.
@3rd party:
What, you think I shouldn't have brought it up? It's a possibility that people easily forget about, and I'd rather not let us forget about that possibility.

Why is it so suspicious that I brought up ENs?
@3 total lynches:
Two more mislynches and then one lynch at LYLO. That's three, no?
@Bloo being mafia:
I'm willing to abandon that theory being absolute at this point. I mean it's definitely something that I think points to three us of experienced players left, but if what a newbie player does is suspicious af, then I'm totally willing to believe they're mafia.
NIGHT TWO
@Last remaining scum:
I think he was referencing the day of their lynch, they'll try to play by saying "lynch this person if I die". Correct me if I'm wrong, Ender.
DAY THREE
@Assuming you're GF:
If you're talking about assuming you're mafia, I already provided explanation for that. In fact, if I recall correctly, you said earlier that made you think I was town?
If you're talking about me assuming there's a GF, that hardly seems like a stretch. I think the burden of proof lies on you to explain why there wouldn't be a GF in this game, just like any other.
TL;DR/CONCLUSION:
  • On D1, Labelle tries to take my posts/thoughts out of context, and makes her last two points assuming I'm mafian.
  • On Night one, Labelle again takes me out of context and gets mad at me for defending Slammint without providing for why Slammint was acting scummy. I could see how Labelle could have been confused on the last point though, and therefore brought it up.
  • Day 2, Labelle focuses on the Panic mode time and the fact that I brought up ENs. She also focuses on my vote on Bloo as being inconsistent with my theory (which I'm willing to drop).
  • Night two, LaBelle misunderstands Ender's post (I think).
  • Noting else really of note
VERDICT: Labelle only really had two valid points - my vote on Bloo being inconsistent (I never did explain that I was willing to vote someone sus, even if they weren't Ender, Labelle, or I), and the confusion regarding Trojan (a misunderstanding).

I think this question is extremely important, so I'm going to go ahead and ask it (even though I just asked it - sorry I'm repeating myself): LaBelle, what made you change your mind regarding Ender and I?

You know, now that I think about it, this is seriously reminding me of a skype convo Labelle and I had. I'll get it real quick once my skype loads.

[10/8/2015 12:37:09 AM] LaBelleFleur: kat
[10/8/2015 12:37:31 AM] LaBelleFleur: can i ask you something?
[10/8/2015 12:38:49 AM] LaBelleFleur: why is it you won’t even entertain the possibility of Ender being mafia?
[10/8/2015 12:39:23 AM] LaBelleFleur: until daniel came out of the woodwork, i thought it must be him since neither of you looked scummy to me
[10/8/2015 12:39:33 AM] LaBelleFleur: but he did, and now it’s down to you two.
[10/8/2015 5:07:57 PM] Kat (╯◕∀◕)╯: Because Ender did several things that would make absolutely no logical sense, were he mafia.
[10/8/2015 5:15:15 PM] Kat (╯◕∀◕)╯: First off, he voted Slammint. And pushed her. Hard. He actually had a live discussion with Endless regarding Slammint, and I think Endless would have caught on any wavering Ender would have done. And Endless never mentioned anything of the sort. Second off, the fact that Ender jumped off of me was quite the townie thing for him to do, but we've beaten that point like a dead horse in the town chat. Thirdly, Slammint's reads said that she thought you were town, whereas she thought Ender was mafia and was trying to push him. I don't think she's advanced enough yet to try to push her own mafian mate.
Not really sure how to word this, but this rubbed me the wrong way. Labelle asked why I won't consider Ender as mafia, but it made it sound like she was almost asking me to see Ender as sus. Then she goes to say it's between him and I for who she thinks is the last mafian, so the two messages I'm getting there seem kinda contradictory.

In light of Labelle suddenly turning on me, this makes that chat stand out even more. That's a vast change of opinion in one day.

@Daniel Just noticed you voted me there. Why?

It's now 2 am. I got distracted by Worlds too much. Oops. >.>

I'm voting Labelle. There are several reasons her big post feels sus to me. (Some addressed by Sarasa already.)

@Panda

Please stop voting me for no reason. At this point you pretty much have the deciding vote on this lynch (Unless Daniel or I change our minds.) I am looking forwards to hearing your reads post.

Night 2
The bolded is exactly what Kat did with Trojan N1.

So there's my case. I was going to make a case for Ender's innocence as well, but to be honest, I don't see the point. You've already made your reasons for thinking Ender's innocent quite clear - they all make sense and I'm inclined to believe them. I will post a case if needed, though.

These two are major parts that confirmed my vote.

The first one, commenting about Sarasa's Trojan line of thought, is out of context and inaccurate in the sense that it is two entirely different situations. I was discussing what mafia do under pressure during day phase, especially when they are subject to lynch, and Labelle is trying to make it sound like Sarasa committed that crime during a night phase when under no pressure at all.

Secondly, that last bit about "I don't need to make my case for why Ender is town" is... very awkward and feels like you had a plan for it and then dropped it.

Also, fun fact:
Labelle has townread me whenever they have made reads or responded with their actual thoughts, and yet is often one of the first to discuss with people about how I could potentially be scum. Including asking Sarasa why she couldn't see me as scum when Labelle has been quite adamantly townreading me all game.

unless Ender instructed her to.

Pretty sure I was too busy watching LoL Worlds.

- - - Post Merge - - -

That is a possibility, hence why if Labelle isn't mafia, I think it'd be him, but I find it pretty unlukely. At the time, Ender had just stayed up watching Worlds, and was asleep for most of that night. That conversation was while he was still asleep./QUOTE]

Oh hey, Sarasa already responded to that.

Ooops.

I totally have reading comprehension atm.

Mfw I accidentally ruin the quote formatting.

I just don't believe that he'd target his own mafian in a voice chat with Endless, and Endless not catching on to anything suspicious. Additionally, he had no motivation for jumping off of me and Slammint tried pegging Ender as mafia, while she pegged Labelle as town despite them barely having any interaction. I don't think Slammint would be able to play so well as to accuse her own mafian mate as being a mafian.

Tbh I'm still amazed anyone thinks I'm mafia when I was, with Trojan, one of the only people pushing hard on Slammint. Literally everyone else was trying to tell me it was just newb-town. I'm preeeeetty sure I have no scum motivation to try and lynch my partner for no reason.

@Sarsa I firmly agree with LaBelles read, as of now you seem the most susipious and I don't think I'll be changing me vote anytime soon.

Half of Labelle's argument makes no sense or is out of context but okay. -.-

- - - Post Merge - - -

Also, what's with this clandestine plot of voting me?

I seriously want to know a. Why Labelle started this behind the scenes "Vote with me" thing, and b. Why Daniel has gone along with it. Public decision is literally town's biggest strongpoint, and instead making deals and decisions with singular people is... no. The only times I agree with the withholding of converse from town is when it's in town's favour. (Town network, etc)

I think this question is extremely important, so I'm going to go ahead and ask it (even though I just asked it - sorry I'm repeating myself): LaBelle, what made you change your mind regarding Ender and I?
To give our Skype conversation some context: I sent this about an hour & a half after the Day 3 post & right after Daniel had told me he was the detective & had gotten a town read on me. Before this, I was pretty resigned to the fact that I was probably going to get lynched, after which there was a 50/50 chance of a town win. I was also confused & doubting myself & my reads.

Backing up a bit. D2, I thought you were scum & Ender was town, no question. Then, Ender suddenly town-reads you, with valid points and lynch changes. I had no idea what to think and was completely lost. So, I figured, if I'm super confused, whichever one of you is town probably is too. Crappy theory? Maybe. Which is why I messaged you, asking why you wouldn't even entertain the possibility of Ender being mafia. You came back with a list of good points, not exactly helping my confusion. Why did I ask you and not Ender? I was about to go to bed and Skype was easy. In hindsight, I should've messaged Ender, since he was the one I'd been town-reading.

So. Yesterday. I came home from work & spend a good three-ish hours reading everything through again & writing up that post. And I realized you were right. Ender is very much town, and I should've trusted my D2 instincts. But my brain got all muddled with the chaos of the D2 end and subsequent N2 discussion.
Secondly, that last bit about "I don't need to make my case for why Ender is town" is... very awkward and feels like you had a plan for it and then dropped it.
It was, because I had full intentions of doing it when I started. :p But then it took me three hours to write the post on Kat and I had other things to do.
Explained above.
You make it sound like I've been campaigning behind the scenes or something. :rolleyes: Honestly not really sure what you're referring to? Daniel & Panda are making their own decisions here.

I AM going to change my vote,,, im not exactly sure if its gonna be for sarasakat or labelle just yet... any final words ?

I AM going to change my vote,,, im not exactly sure if its gonna be for sarasakat or labelle just yet... any final words ?
I don't really have anything in particular to say that I haven't before. If you have any questions though, ask away. I'll be around on and off until lynch.

but Daniel did says that you and he were PM and trying to make a joined vote and see if i would go along so we would have the majority.

but Daniel did says that you and he were PM and trying to make a joined vote and see if i would go along so we would have the majority.
We were messaging, yes, after he told me he was detective. We were both confused and trying to figure out who was the mafian between Ender & Kat. I sent him my suspicions on Kat the next day, and he told me he would back-up my vote.

I messaged you to see where your head was at. I never tried to convince you to 'vote with me' (as Ender so eloquently put it). If anything, I encouraged you in the opposite direction, since you've been suspicious of Ender the whole time and I told you to follow your reads through. :p

I still find Sarsa suspicious after the whole facing defeat when she was about to be lynched. I think she was ready to lose and just gave up and tried to lie about her role as a last desperate attempt.

It's your decision who your going to lynch. Whoever you feel is the mafian is who you should vote for.
