Hi everyone! I'm Amy, the resident representative of Cassoulet, an island named after delicious bean stew. This is where I'll share bits and pieces of my New Horizons journey! I've been playing Animal Crossing since the GameCube game was new, and I'm having a blast with New Horizons so far; I've been spending a lot of time with the game since it came out, trying to create a living space that feels real and functional to me while also being...well, aesthetically pleasing.

My plan for this thread is to post updates, milestones, and insights into my decorating process for Cassoulet -- both for anyone who might be interested and for my own satisfaction! I don't TT, so everything is happening in real time!

I'm proud to say that Cassoulet recently achieved a

, and I'd love to share how I got there and (hopefully) how I'm maintaining that rating going forward.

Villagers at a glance!

Current:
Audie

is such a sweetheart! She loves shopping, working out, and talking about her favorite TV shows.
Canberra

makes me laugh all the time. She's very cool and a little standoffish, but she loves to hang out with other villagers.
Dobie

is a kindly old academic! He really enjoys taking long hikes to distant parts of the island and studying the local foliage.
Gladys

is super cute, and such a sweetie. She loves nature and seems to enjoy taking long walks; I find her wandering around in unusual places all the time. I'd die for her.
Kitt

is the mom of the island! She's one of Cassoulet's more introverted villagers, but she's always making sure everyone's taking care of themselves!
Lionel

is an actor and is also insufferable, so I relate to him on many levels. He was my first campsite villager and I wasn't sold on him originally, but I love him now.
Paula

is perfectly nice, but kind of bland. I have nothing against her but I'm planning to let her move out when she asks.
Sherb

is the most adorable little guy. He loves his grandma, the bugs in his house, and sleeping. I gave him a sweater and he wears it all the time.
Snooty

is the greatest. She's the only snooty on the island and I'm super thrilled to have gotten her. She's a little judgmental, but also really sweet.
Sprinkle

has so much energy! She runs around outside and sings a lot and wants to be a pop star. I've given her so many gifts and she's loved them all!

Past:
Cobb

is, well...a jock. He's a big fan of weightlifting and that's about it. He was one of my starters, and I wasn't sure about him at first, but he really grew on me during his time on Cassoulet!
He moved to a friend's town on 4/27/20.​

General:
Cobb asked to move! I decided to let him go, making him Cassoulet's first move-out. I'm going to miss him quite a bit, as he was one of my starters and he'd really grown on me, but he's being adopted by a friend with an all-jock town who really loves him, and I'll be moving in Dobie thanks to a super generous TBT member who's been holding him for me! Even though I'm a little bummed it's Cobb that Dobie will be replacing (I'd hoped to get Paula to move out instead), I'm thrilled with how this has all worked out. I get to move in my #1 dreamy and I still get to visit Cobb, who's going to a great new home. ;^; I'm looking forward to island hopping for another jock once Paula asks to move!

Got my second lily of the valley. Kinda disappointed to learn you can't pick them and place them as furniture like you could in New Leaf! Hopefully that'll be added at some point.

General:
Not a ton going on today! Putting some (temporarily) finishing touches on a garden area I've been working on for the past few days. I'll share pictures soon!

Yesterday was Cassoulet's first thunderstorm! I managed to get some cool pictures of Dobie doing yoga right in front of his house as it started. That second one isn't a filter, I just got lucky with the timing of a lightning flash! Thunderstorms are honestly one of the coolest things I've experienced in this game so far, I hope I'll see another one soon.
