Smells Like Teen Spirit
I probably should’ve posted this a while back, but I kept forgetting.
Anyways…
On Friday, May 17, 2024, I saw 9 scorpions in one night. At first it was mostly cloudy, but as the night progressed it rained on and off. It mostly rained though. The weather probably contributed to the insane luck I had. I never saw this many scorpions in one night again. It was two at most. Three if I was really lucky. But let me tell you how the night played out. And no, I’m not lying. I would’ve put more photos here, but for most of the encounters I took videos. I’ll try to upload these videos at some point. But I don’t know if you even can on this site. Alright, enough of my rambling. Here’s how the night played out:
Scorpion 1: I was playing as another character. I saw it shortly after 7 PM. It was caught on the northwest central area of my island. Since the character I was playing as didn’t have the scorpion registered to their Critterpedia yet, it was the first scorpion for them. I took the scorpion to their house and placed it in their bedroom in the basement. I’ve had them keep the scorpion as a pet. It still resides in the basement to this day. I named it Black Venom.
Scorpion 2: For the rest of these scorpions, I was playing as myself. I was going to Nook’s Cranny when I saw a scorpion by Curt’s house. When I was catching it, a tiger beetle was in front of it. Thankfully, the tiger beetle despawned and I was able to catch the scorpion. This happened at around 8:15 PM.
Scorpion 3: I saw one near the left bridge. It was like the scorpion was guarding the bridge and preventing anyone from crossing over it. Catching it felt like a battle. As I was in the middle of catching it, Ozzie ran up to me to get my attention. Curt walked by and saw the scorpion. He was shocked and stared at it. A few seconds later, I caught the scorpion. Ozzie clapped, and Curt sighed with relief. That was the worst time for Ozzie to get my attention. This happened at around 9 PM.
Scorpion 4: Around 10:15 PM, I was walking back to my house after being up in the urban area of my island. I saw another scorpion by the incline. I caught it.
Scorpion 5: Around 10:30 PM, I saw one near my house, and I caught it.
Scorpion 6: At 10:45 PM, I saw one as I crossed the right bridge back to the central area. I caught it.
Scorpion 7: 10 minutes later. I wanted to get one aggressive and chase after me. I saw one near the plaza, so I ran really fast near it to try and scare it. At the time, I didn’t know that it wouldn’t work. I realized this after a few seconds, so I got out my net. Unfortunately, by the time I got it out, the scorpion despawned.
Scorpion 8: Shortly after 11 PM, I saw another one where I saw the first scorpion. (The one that’s now being kept as a pet.) I got out my net for the scorpion to chase me. However, it was too fast, and it stung me before I could do anything.
Scorpion 9: This happened around 11:30 PM. I don’t remember where I saw it, but I successfully got one to chase me. I took out my net and ran. I saw Shari and decided to talk to her with the scorpion on my tail. She freaked out and said “Ack! Scorpion! Save the chat for later! Get outta here!” I tried to run, but the scorpion stung me as soon as I was done talking to Shari.
After that scorpion, I didn’t see any more that night. I tried again on Saturday (rainy as well), but I didn’t see any. I think I just got extremely lucky.
