So now that we know Animal Crossing New Horizons has gotten the 2.0 update with some of the extra stuff included, we are aware that they're now doing paid expansions to the game.

Though a fair amount of content returned, some of it was still missing such as fruit like Bananas, Lemons, Durians, and crystals. But that brings me to the question; could this content play a bigger role in an expansion? It's much like how the overwhelming amount of furniture introduced in Happy Home Paradise made the game feel very complete.

I speculate that the next possible major expansion will be focused on wild expeditions and exploration. We've had Kapp'n take use to islands that had vines and glowing moss, something that not even Dodo Airlines could do, and I feel like a sort of independent exploration team would be just the right fit. They would be able to take us to plenty of uncharted islands that would have rare resources to grow back on our own island, allowing for waaaay more possibilities.

Now this is where I would think up of my own ideas of how this will play out;

Such islands would be arranged in a sort of puzzle much like the May Day event, except more detailed and somewhat complicated; we would have to use our resources wisely and do our best to find some potential treasure scattered on the islands that can be exchanged for a potential third currency (which would be separate from Poki). The more islands we explore, the more complicated they would get. If anyone remembers the scene from the Dobutsu no Mori movie where they explore the caves, I feel like this could fit very perfectly into this potential expansion.

What do you all think? Does a complicated, but fun expedition expansion be great?

I doubt they'll do anything else other than some patches and fixes maybe. At this point I think we've gotten everything they're going to give us and will focus on the next in the series, if anything.

I’m with the others here - I don’t think much more will happen aside from bug fixes and minor updates. It’s sad, I think the game still has more potential, but I understand that they have to move on and create new games.

If Nintendo ever did another paid expansion, I bet it would focus on the multiplayer aspect. They added good ol' Happy Home Designer, so they might try to do a little Amiibo Festival thing.

But I agree that they should add the rest. No reason to leave out the rest of the fruits, or literally any content. The game is good, but with the pacing being off it gets old very fast. New Leaf gave us new things like every 30 days, like the 5 different shop upgrades and stuff. Like just add bananas it shouldn't be this hard, just give us little item updates or whatever. If you constantly create stuff for Pocket Camp how timeconsuming would it be to convert the same items to New Horizons?

Really, the no more updates was such a big let down by Nintendo.

though it's the last major update and stuff, i don't see why they couldn't still add small stuff in future updates/patches. most of the stuff that is missing that we'd want added like tropical fruits, crystals, special stumps, whatever are small enough to just kind of be plopped in. granted, if they were to add it, i don't see why they wouldn't have during the 2.0 update...

I would not expect much more than what we already got. The only thing Nintendo may add is patches to fix any issues/glitches within the game.

That would make me feel like ACNH is becoming more and more like Sims!
Customizing houses… hunger bars… changing appearance in a mirror… traveling to islands lol

Since Nintendo said this was the last update I'm not expecting anything, I can't be disappointed if I don't get my hopes up in the first place.

No more updates? Will we not get any more cute seasonal items?
Not likely, but not impossible. So far, there really hasn’t been any new seasonal items in 2022, although the maypole is coming for NH players during summer solstice. Festivale came and went without new items, and nothing new has so far been found for 2022 bunny day.

No, Nintendo has outright stated that 2.0 is the last content update and HHP is the only paid DLC. However, Nintendo does like to go against their own word and randomly drop updates, so it isn't entirely out of the question.

However, set expectations low and expect nothing as it stands right now, we won't get anything.

Its really weird with Nintendo because they just announced more updates to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe out of nowhere and I thought they were done with the game. Look at Super Mario Party it somehow got the feature to play with friends online out of nowhere. The point I'm saying is that Nintendo is very weird with their wording and they sometimes changes their mind. If they see that Happy Home Paradise made them so much more money they could be thinking about making another expansion, but again I know they said they are not planning anymore major content updates or DLC, but you can never know. They are unpredictable sometimes.

Well, Deluxe was just the Wii U game with slightly improved graphics, new gameplay features and had all of Wii U's DLC. So Deluxe was its 'own' game in its own right. But, yes, this is Nintendo's 'weird' side kicking in. Not that I am complaining, I like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

But when it comes to ACNH, its done. We'll just have to see in the future if Nintendo wants to do something weird and add stuff.

I don't foresee them doing another expansion and I wouldn't care to see them do one. I think anything like that would be saved for the next AC game.
I would like them to add a way to get all 6 normal fruits on your own but I don't see that happening either.
It would be nice if they added some Kirby items but I also thought it would have been nice to have added items on ACNH's anniversary too, or pokemon stuff, and many wanted Zelda stuff, and it didn't happen.

I know it won't be happening but I also would like to see more fruit added, more dresses and clothing in general and more furniture. I just want them to keep always updating it even in small amounts at a time but they wont be :(
