mum's worried about paypal being linked to my switch

she's asking if it's safe... & if they'll take money from her account, other then the money for membership

& if paypal can be unlinked, once it's paid for

You can definitely unlink a paypal account after adding it. It will be linked to your Nintendo ID, not your switch.
For me, I can manage that here:
I'd try checking there.

I also strongly recommend setting up 2-step verification because Nintendo doesn't have the best history with security and my account on there has been breached before (unique password, so it was definitely their fault).
You can do that here:

If it is linked, the only time they'll take money is when you buy a game. I think even then you have to authorise it by logging in to paypal.

The yearly nintendo switch online membership is set to renew itself automatically, but you can go into the settings to stop it from doing that: https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Support/...nline-Automatic-Renewal-Settings-1434298.html

edit: yes, it can totally be unlinked, don't worry. i don't think it even has to be linked in the first place. if your mum uses a debit card it should take one-off payments just fine without saving anything, that's how i use my debit card.

i now have another problom... i did everything else fine but on the last stage of the 2-step verification, it gave me this...

i don't have a smart device

& the paypal password won't let me in.... i was honestly panicking over that... but mum instists that there's no need to panic... :cautious:

Uhm I’d blur out that QR code quickly and remove this image from a public forum
I’m not super tech savvy and I don’t know what that code stands for but it’s not safe to have a 2 factor authentication code on a public forum

liking your post so you can see this

There should be a 16 character code below the qr code that you can use instead. Can you see where to type it in? According to Paypal, that is the alternative if you do not have a smart device.
