When I first got the game (I got it 3 days early) I resetted for 2 days straight and gave up. I realized I went through almost all the island combinations and settled with the first one I saw the next day lol.
It was a bad decision on my end as it didn't have the fruits I wanted, but I had one of my dreamies on it. The island layout was meh at most and I really didn't have a vison for it.
Then island tours came in and my first villager was Audie. I still decided to to reset, but before resetting I went on another island tour and got Raymond. At this point I thought it was the game telling me to stop and keep the island lol.
So a week later I've done my best to improve my island with a subpar layout. Overall I feel that if you stuck to the island layout and played a bit longer (if you tt, you can try to move the villager out) but that's not my type of tea.
In the end it's all up to you OP just make sure you'll follow through with your decision. You could try to do your best with what you have, but honestly if you don't like your island it's best to reset.
