about meteor showers

They start at 7PM and only occur on a clear night. You are not guaranteed meteor showers per zodiac cycle or anything, although random shooting stars can still happen.
Certain times of the year have more frequent showers, the companion guide had them listed, but I don't have a link to where I saw it last.
Meteor showers are also date locked per switch. Meaning the days they appear are different for everyone, however once you get it on say July 4, 2020 (which is one of mine) you can time travel back to that date and still make wishes.

how do they happen? do you have to wish on a star?
You'll hear a twinkling sound, and as soon as you look up you will see a shooting star flying by. You can then press A to wish upon it, and the next day there will be star fragments scattered around your beach for each star you wished upon (I believe there's a cap though)

Sometimes Isabelle will also announce when a meteor shower is happening. She never used to but ive found that very recently she'll tell me whenever a meteor shower is happening regardless of the time i started the game (some say apparently she'll only tell you if you start the game at night)

All the one's I've had, she has announced beforehand, even when I started playing during the day. I think even the bulletin board says it? (i have to check) I haven't had one since April game-time, and I've time traveled to July, so it might be rarer this time of year or all of mine were just scheduled in April.
