About "Refs"?

IMSOSORRY if this is the wrong place to post this, but something's been having me scratch my head for awhile now.

I've noticed that on this site there's these "ref" shops and stuff? It honestly kinda confuses me on how that works and I'm not sure where to ask this. Like, do people draw a full ref or is it like a collage of images or... just how does that work? //OTL I just don't understand and I've never seen this on another forum with an art section.

A ref sheet is basically a picture that makes it super easy to request art of a character.

An example: [Click!]

Basically there's people (like me lol) who will make a ref sheet for you. All you have to do is give them some info and pictures of your character and they'll turn it into something like this!

Then if you ever need to show your character to someone you can just pull up the sheet!

you can also have different references if you dont have one sheet made, of just multiple pictures.

I also want to add, Refs are not only great to use towards reference material for artists, but they are a wonderful design outlet for me and gomen for putting this in a spoiler again lol, these are time consuming and give much better info for me then if I were to haphazardly type the info everywhere on a shop thread lol:
