ACNH Famitsu review

The only thing I hate about Famitsu scores is that only the score seems to make it outside of Japan. I want to know more details of what they think of it. The actual number rating of a game means very little to me.

Yeah, that and Dragon Quest. Whenever a new Zelda or DQ game comes out, there's a high chance of either a 40 or a 39. That feels like Japan's preferences in general though.

Japanese Nintendo blog says they'll have the fully translated review later this week. But maybe someone will post up scans on tumblr before then.

New Leaf got a 39/40, WW and PG fot 37/40, and City Folk got 33/40 (I think), so this bodes well for New Horizons I'd think.

That's very good news! Famitsu has four individuals rate a game out of 10, and then adds the numbers up to produce a score out of 40.

New Leaf was rated 10/9/10/10 and New Horizons was 9/9/10/10. So, we're talking a very minimal difference in rating here.

This is interesting. Thanks for posting it! This is definitely good news, though I didn't really doubt that it'd get good reviews. It's hard to screw up Animal Crossing. ...usually.

i'm glad the review suggests nh is pretty much on par with new leaf ! i wish more information was available from the review, but i'm looking forward to making up my own mind about the game

I definitely don't trust Famitsu scores. It seems like they give out high scores like it's nothing. Nearly every time I see a famitsu score being mentioned for a Nintendo game it's almost a perfect score.

I wouldn't overthink New Horizons getting a lower score than New Leaf. (it could have had different reviewers for one thing) From everything we've seen so far it looks like it's going to be everything New Leaf was and more.

Exception being underwater creatures and Crazy Redd. Otherwise, you're dead on about everything you said.

I guess this begs the question, when will the embargo (is that what it's called) be lifted for other media outlets to publish their reviews? I generally rely on metacritic for an honest take on the game overall, but again, the only person's opinion that matters as it relates to this game is my own.

Oh, no, that's an old meme about an IGN review of Pokemon Alpha Sapphire that gave it a 7.8 for having "too much water". People thought it was a ridiculous reason so it became a meme of legend.

hmm, interesting - i don’t think i’m too concerned with reviews because at the end of the day, i guess it’s more about whether or not i personally enjoy the game, which i definitely will lol
