The best I can do to answer your question is assume .-. and I assume that both people need to go online at least once and check their friends list in order for the other to be registered? I don't think you both need to be on simultaneously ._. but then again I am not very sure xD

For some reason some people, even when they are currently offline, are confirmed as added immediately, while others are not... Strange.

That's the strange part. There are people saying "added you" that aren't confirmed immediately. So that would lead me to believe they didn't actually add me? No biggie, just trying to understand how it works.
