Selling Adopt~ [I IS SULD 2 AALY!1]

how's about you give it for free because I'm ur best m9 lol

are we able to change her design slightly if we adopt her?

So weird question I never understood these "adoptions" you put the design up, what stops people from just, drawing their own copy? Or saving the picture? like why would you pay for it when you can just make your own?

Hi, there! ' v '

As a former avid adopter on dA, I can gladly answer your question.

More often than artists create "adoptables" of fun characters or designs and find themselves not needing them or not having a use for them, so they place them up for adoption for people who may have an idea for the character or design. Some people are unable to draw as well as others so they seek out artists who have available designs for them to use. Other people may be able to draw, but still find themselves interested in the character or design. What stops people from copying a design (if you're talking about COMPLETELY and BLATANTLY copying someone else's character or design), then I would have to say integrity? I mean, yeah, nothing is original, but still. Put yourself in the position of the artist who created the character or design, and then you find out someone copies it because they didn't want to pay.

It's perfectly okay to "take away" characteristics or elements of a design, but it's another thing if you're straight up stealing it.

I hope that makes sense.

EDIT: Regarding the stealing or saving of the drawing or image, most artists use a watermark to prevent this. Upon payment from the buyer, they will give an un-watermarked drawing or image.

I decided to put my reply in a spoiler so it's not such an eyesore to the thread. ;;;

Huh, I never thought about it that way, thank you for explaining it so thoroughly. Maybe I should throw some of my designs up here, I always end up making characters but either grow tired of them or never use them, but I guess that's what I get for being an avid role player. ^.^"

As a fellow avid role player, I know the struggle. I'm glad I was able to explain to you thoroughly. It's essentially art theft when you save the drawing without permission so I had to put my two cents in.

Anyway, I shall take my leave! Good luck to OP and everyone else in the auction!
