I didn't do much today; I'm finishing up switching two Residents' houses. (Wendy into one of the houses by the village plaza, I think she'd want to be around people all the time.)

To catch up on some stuff I've been working on:
I downloaded some new custom designs of stones and wooden planks that I've been going a little crazy with, and have updated a lot of areas with them.

Here are some progress pictures of the plaza. The layout hasn't really changed at all, but some minor details have over time.

I think moving Wendy's house to be near the town square was a good call, she seems to be out and about more often. It's nice seeing her do yoga all over the village

6/12/2020 Out with the old and in with the Dobie
I said goodbye to Buck today. He was one of my first two villagers and yet I never really grew very fond of him... I wish the jocks had more of a personality or ANY other interests aside from working out. Also, someone gave him a yellow chick dress very early on and it quickly became his staple piece, much to my dismay. Oh well.

See ya space cowboy. ​

I was hoping to find someone trading Dobie to replace him because he had been living in the plot I set aside for the grumpy old wolf. Luckily enough, I found him very quickly! I hope he enjoys his new home

Another dreamy down! Now as far as wolves go, I'm just looking for Vivian. After that, it's sheep as far as the eye can see!

I also worked on my carnival/fair today. I moved some stalls around (I still need at least three more, but that's lumber I'm going to worry about on another day) and integrated the plank design I've been going overboard with. I love it so much.

I've always thought that Lucky must look up to Kyle, because the pup seems to follow him around all day.

It's really cute, but Kyle also gives me the feeling that he would be a really incompetent mentor since he seems like a teenager or really young adult. I feel like he wouldn't be... the best role model ever... So I'm really happy that Dobie is here now to steer them in the right direction!

I kept playing after my post yesterday and had a little photo shoot with my two favorite villagers, Pietro and Wendy. I know it's kind of a running joke that people will have two villagers of the same species and immediately act like they're a couple, but hear me out. A couple of days ago I got on in the morning and they both had... uh... fleas.

Do what you will with that information. I'm not saying that means anything but I'm also not saying it doesn't mean anything.

ANYWAYS. I love them very much.​

In other news, I've also been preoccupied putting down new dirt paths from a beautiful custom set I've seen floating around by someone named @Denim2_mori on Twitter. I tried them a few days ago and really liked the design and concept, but didn't really care for the color, so I stuck with my own path design. However, I just kept seeing pictures of the beautiful things people had done with them so I downloaded them again and this time they stuck. There are definitely areas I'm still working out the kinks with, but overall I think I prefer my island with them as the primary path. I think...

I also made some changes to the layout of farm/garden, not sure if I'm totally happy with them but I'm going to sit on it for a bit. I realized my hybrid farm really wasn't very efficient at all so I re-arranged some things, changed the layout in a few places, and replaced the dirt with grass in one of the quadrants so I can have a flower field where the colors can mix. That last part is what I'm not sure if I like.

The layout before (This is an old picture so the flowers had changed long before today but the layout was the same). There are four quadrants each with 9 3x3 beds for flowers (except in one the farm house takes the place of a single bed).

A pretty bad after photo of the quadrant I turned into a field. You'd think it would be muscle memory to hit "+" by this point but I took a screenshot of the camera screen instead, lol.

I also really drastically changed my little "bus stop" area in between the museum and Nook's, but I'll share a photo of that tomorrow!

Finally, Dobie is fitting in quite nicely here.

Lil update:​

I'm starting an internship tomorrow so I won't be able to play literally all day as much anymore and these entries might not be as consistent or long (not that any other entries have been long) but I'm going to try and keep up with it because I've really been having fun with this, both in my own journal and seeing all the amazing things others are doing with their islands. You guys are super inspiring!!

Hahaha, yeah I just adore Wendy and her little toothy smile :') Would highly recommend. I am also biased towards sheep though, I'm trying to make a sheep and wolf island (plus Lucky).

My bus stop isn't actually a proper bus stop, my goal for the area was to try and recreate the feeling of the bus stop scene from My Neighbor Totoro, if you've seen that movie, so it's more like a little bench by the road... But it's also still a WIP.

Thank you so much! I feel the same about your island, Elysium is so stunning. I would love it if like someday we have an island tour day where people who have island journals go around and see other people's islands! It might be a lot to organize but if people are ever satisfied enough with their islands to make it work I think it could be really fun!

My prediction about posting and doing less in Verdure was unfortunately accurate. I didn't realize that only having time in the evening meant that I would only be able to play when it's nighttime in-game, which has been a tiny bit depressing. I think I'm going to set my clock back a few hours so I have a little daylight.

I haven't made many major changes, but playing at night means that I do have a few spooky and dark photos to share.

Also, a really sweet Reddit user messaged me saying that after seeing the post I made about my dirt path design she was inspired to completely redo her island (!!! SO flattering) and invited me to visit.

Not sure if she wants her username to be published here, but she used
the path design on the dark dirt path base, which I thought was really interesting.
Her island was very cute

One day I walked in on Wendy and Pietro hanging out. It was very clear that I wasn't welcome, but it was cute to see Pietro sing and play the guitar for her.

Finally, a cute pupper on a hot day and the "bus stop" area I'm not happy with yet. I like that now there are three rivers flowing into the same basin but the space feels a lil awkward as is.

Long time no play!

I was inspired by the village I mentioned that I visited earlier and added more flowers to a couple of areas

This is maybe the most I've ever matched my house's aesthetic. My heart is constantly being pulled in two different directions-cottagecore and like... super messy punk. My outfits usually tend to represent the latter, so it often leads to a goofy contrast.​

I don't have a ton to post an update about because I haven't been playing very much.
I have decided that I'm going to get rid of my mini-game area because I realized that I don't actually have any friends that play anymore... And I'm going to move my shops there because I don't love them where they are right now. I have a vision, I'm hoping it will pan out okay.

Hello, hello, hello!
I've been playing a little sporadically, but I did manage to redo the minigame section of my island like I said I would like to in my last post, and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. Aside from that, I've been:

• Adding to my pine forest
• Moving my museum to a new ruins area inspired by sleepydreepy's ruins area on Maui
• Terraforming to make the valley in my map look a little more natural, which included moving Marina's house
• Moving things around in the fair (again! It seems to be a continual process)

I guess I have been playing a lot, haha... Writing this down definitely helps me see where my priorities really lie.

Anyway, here is the new shop area in place of the minigames. I was going for a slightly old-western, very small-town vibe.

The path at the bottom is between the orchard (under Nook's) and a little
"blueberry" farm, and leads to the only furnished beach area I've made

I love your new shop area!! Looks so cozy and familiar somehow. Kinda nostalgic I suppose. Especially Nook's with the rocking chair and the phonograph, I can totally imagine Timmy or Tommy taking a snooze there in the afternoon (most likely Tommy lol)

And again I have to praise your fair area. I love it so much. When we get the fireworks update in August maybe we'll get some more fun carnival furniture and I think the fair will look so beautiful with some fireworks in the background... I'm just picturing it and I'm excited about it haha

FIREWORKS??? I am SO excited thank you so much for telling me about this lol!! Yeah I keep finding myself wishing that there was a little ferris wheel or balloons or something to make it seem more like a carnival, I hope your prediction is right!
