I was just wondering what you guys consider an "ALT Account"? A sibling of mine would like to use these forums but I'm afraid of getting another warning. I've gotten warnings before releating to other family memebers accounts getting banned and It's become quite annoying.

So I thought that this time I'd just go ahead and ask. Can one of my siblings please make an account?

The way I see it, it is technically not an alt if they have their own account.

An alt is like having multiple tumblr accounts, run by the same person. We all know having out own alt is against the rules here, but if they use that account as their own person, doesn't let anyone else use it, and isn't doing it to only help another account, then it should be fine.

this would be something you'd have to bring up with the staff directly to alert them of, but alt accounts are simply just a single user using multiple accounts. multiple people under the same roof using individual accounts should be fine

I'm the 7th of 11 and currently living in the same household. Some of my siblings have tried in the past but ended up getting banned. This time my closest younger brother has seen me use the forums recently and would like to join. Can't exactly tell him it's "a-ok" knowing how strict the system here is.

I think it might have something to do with having the same friend code? Do you guys share your DS/town? Maybe the mods are seeing the same FC between accounts and considering them alts?

That's so weird.

But, tbt gets new members quite often, so who's to say a new member could or could NOT be your brother?

Did they all try to use the same email? I think tbt is against that as well.

Dont think making account under the same email is even possible. I believe they track IP adresses of active accounts or something

again, contact the staff board

making a thread here about it accomplishes nothing

Yeah, if you're in the same household then you have the same IP address and the staff can probably see that and think it's an alternative account. But if you put a thrrad in the Contact the Staff board about a heads up about it then it should be all good. I'veheard of siblings/family related accounts getting banned on here, but then again from my own experience my siblings and my own account haven't spiked any warnings either.

My sister and I never got flagged but I know other people in the same house have, like Lambda said just make a thread in Contact the Staff to let them know that it's a sibling and I think it should be fine

Ah, I didn't notice that board. Thanks so much for letting me know.

Edit: is that place really the right place to post?

Maybe I should try PMing one of the admins?

they *really* should change that description tbh

but yes, it'd be the right place, and better than pming. as this way all staff members will be able to see and it'll be guaranteed they're made aware of this

pm'ing would be taking more of a risk in hoping they see and get to (it could very well end up missed among other stuff or something)
