Am I the only one that thinks this game is bad? (Opinion Revised) It gets better

I really love this game so far. I understand that it will get boring soon because all you do is designing houses. So I'm taking it slow and playing it the same time with Animal Crossing New Leaf. New Leaf is my main dish and HHD is my side dish. I'll keep switching between the two to keep them both fresh. But HHD is really cool in my opinion!

i think it would be a good game. not for the price it is though thats like a bad joke, it should've been like 15 bucks i dont care what anyone says. its a spinoff right? okay, so sorry but thats just laughable in my honest opinion. Why anyone would pay 40 bucks for a game without your own house, town etc is beyond me. hopefully the next REAL animal crossing game has some of these elements implemented. Itd even be perfect if they smashed this and new leaf into one. design there houses and your town, place there houses, design your character etc. maybe they should've just done that instead of wasting time with a "spin off" pretty disappointing.

Just because something's a spinoff, doesn't mean it's not worth its price. There are plenty of non-traditional Mario games to prove that.

While this game lacks things normal AC titles have, it also has things those titles don't. Aside from the items that are new in this game, there's a level of control over the homes that's very satisfying. To top it off, there's basically no limit to how many villagers one can have. When designing non-home projects, you can still control their interior and exterior looks, while meeting some very minimal requirements. You can change the season in an area to your liking, put smaller PWPs from other games in villager homes, and much more, and are constantly unlocking new furniture sets and ability to modify things.

I get that maybe it's not your thing, but this game looks like it's going to provide hours upon hours of gameplay that are worth more than $15. Sure, it's not game of the year, but I wouldn't say it sucks or anything.

I spend $40 on lots of games that don't give me my own house :p

So I've put two hours into this game so far (crashing for the night because I'm about to pass out xD) and it's SO FUN. It's definitely not bad. It's not the best but my goodness it's making my creative juices flow and that, to me, is truly exciting! Sure I can see it becoming boring down the line but if you play it slow, I'm sure you'll be fine. After all, all games can get boring after awhile of intense play.

Personally, I played AC:NL at launch and was hooked for almost 2 years straight, playing daily till.... actually TBT is at fault for my decline in ACNL play, when it became more of a function of trading than a game to unwind for me, and lost its "fun", took a break, to ensure I was playing ACNL to attend to my villagers, catch bugs and visit the island too as well as make time for TBT commitments and trades, rather than it being ALL trades. Then when I got my second town, started cycling, things got even crazier..... But by that point my Main Town Catalog was at 100% and my store still stands (though now temporarily inactive) as the only 5-star rated furniture store in the Re-Tail board and had for the year or so it was servicing TBT. And my home was complete and hadn't changed in quite some time. Every so often I would mix up the back room to fit the festive theme of the season. But now it is my year-round vacation island resort room. My Museum rooms showcase my festive and seasonal sets. But redecorating my house was always my favourite activity in the game. My furniture store, helping people design THEIR homes...... That is what I did! Basically! And this game let me help my villagers with their homes, which I think is a neat concept. It doesn't have the time commitment that ACNL does and pressure of villagers moving for me to constantly keep tabs on. So I am not managing 3 towns. This is a fun way for me to enjoy the aspects of the game I enjoyed the most again in a whole new way.

I will always love and appreciate the online multiplayer capability of ACNL, but HHD forces me into single player mode to play for ME, for FUN.... which is EXACTLY what I need in an AC game. Getting the New HHD 3DS with it was the icing on the cake!

I understand that you're disappointed and underwhelmed with the design aspect but to say (or type) that it's bad and it's the worst Animal Crossing game in the series? lmao

It's not bad. It's just that designing homes is simply just not your thang or not in your interest.

I like this game because you don't have a limit on how many villagers you can "have." C:

I initially said I wasn't going to get the game, but I jumped on the hype train and bought it xD
"sharing your Designs" is what sold it for me.
I'm pretty excited that I get to refurbish, change windows?, and stuff via the play coin handbook!!

So far, I'm enjoying this game just fine. And I finally figured out how to operate the NFC card reader too.

Wow... I am totally obsessed with this game already. Love is an understatement. Besides designing, seeing the villagers around town and visiting their homes is super cute.

I knew what to expect from this game, so it was kind of hard to be disappointed by it. I'm really enjoying designing shops around town, and I love visiting villagers after I've designed their homes.

It's a cute little game, and helps feed my AC fix when I don't feel like playing NL, but still want to see my favorite villagers.

I don't think this game is bad, but it does get a little linear and repetitive after a while. My strategy is to take things easy, only design 3-4 max houses a day, and alternate between HHD and ACNL to maximize the experience. The amiibo cards, on the other hand, are complete rip-offs in my opinion...

I'm really sorry that you don't like it! I was really really iffy about buying it and I nearly didn't! I almost used the money I had for this game on a second copy of NL. I'm REALLY happy I didn't! I was nervous that it was going to get way too repetitive way too fast and I was going to do 2 houses and be done with it... nope... I can't put it down! I'm still playing NL before I play this, but I can't wait to get back to this game (so far...). I still don't think it was worth 40 bucks for s spin-off (even though it does add a lot new items, it doesn't technically add a lot of game-play (game-play HOURS, YES. Different experiences, no). I'd say 20-30 bucks is what it should have been.

I totally get what you're saying, though. Maybe you could set up your own challenges within the game? Be like, I need to 5 houses today, or I need to do 1 main building today. Work towards filling up New Towns main street, work towards doing every character the game offers. I think it'd be interesting if you ONLY used the items the villager gives you for their house (which sometimes is a lot, sometimes it's not). Or only one color, or only one set, and so on and so forth. But this is a good game to have while you're waiting for something, if you don't really like it. You'd get too caught up in New Leaf and be late, but this game could keep you occupied... does that make sense? I get caught up in both, though lol. Good luck ^.^

Now that I'm having a bit more hands-on time with it, it feels more like a companion game to New Leaf.
You're going to be heavily burned out if you just play it all day long, but playing it for an hour or in small bits makes it quite a fun experience :)

One thing that "Happy Home Designer" does that is different from "Animal Crossing," in general, is remove the simulation time. The pure way of playing "Animal Crossing" is to let actual time pass. "Happy Home Designer" does none of that. It gives you your tools (meaning, designs) with different and various villagers with whom you agree to design both exterior and interior houses. So, the concept of what we are used to "Animal Crossing" is a departure: there's no need to fish, dig up fossils, purchase genuine art, grow flowers (some which are hybrids), run a town with Public Works Projects, and design your overall town. I'm good with "Happy Home Designer." It's fun.

I feel the exact same way. I thought it was ADORABLE, So cute.
I loved that you could change your appearance without answering weird questions.
After designing a few homes, I was confused?
I expected it to be just like it is, but also like new leaf with a whole town in which you could shop and explore. But, no.

I'm kinda sad, I payed $55 for nothing, tbh

the only good part was the poster &&the hot clerk ;v;;
