3. Favorite drink?
4. Favorite color?
5. Favorite villager?

- Do you believe in ghosts?
- Do you have any ghost stories?

Hi friend!!

1. I have such a wide variety of music that I like, ranging from Abba to heavy metal! It’s so hard to condense it down but I guess the music I listen to most would be indie? And I absolutely adore Ariana Grande too even though she is definitely not indie hahaha. My favourite song has always been Dancing in the Moonlight! It’s such an upbeat, lovely song! 😊

2. I don’t really have anything in particular that I like drawing, most things are a challenge as I have an idea in my head but struggle to translate it to paper 🤔 I like working with colours most (and cute things), and I love sketching! I think one of my favourite things to do is the sketch because it doesn’t feel like there’s as much pressure to be perfect! Haha 🤣

3. I actually went by “mochi” before (when I was uneducated and had no idea what it was or how it was pronounced…), and decided I wanted something more personal and relatable to irl me. I went for mocha because it’s my favourite hot drink! (Hot chocolate and coffee for those of you who are unaware). It quickly became my favourite online name and I couldn’t imagine anything else now 😊 I also loved the story behind your username too!! So interesting. I loved Mabinogi when it first came out (I was obsessed with Maplestory for years beforehand too haha)

1. Opinions on me?
2. Why are you so wonderful?
3. Favorite drink?
4. Favorite color?
5. Favorite villager?

1. Lovely, chatty, friendly and encouraging! You have a very positive demeanour and have a great sense of humour too! 😊
2. Hahaha! I actually am quite a monotonous, anti social person irl but find it a lot easier to convey my thoughts and feelings online. I also always try to be kind to people as that’s how I’d like to be treated - and as I know so many people who struggle with their mental health (myself included) I always make the effort to be friendly incase it may brighten someone’s day! Costs nothing to be nice 😊
3. This is a hard one because I love water and drink so much of it.. my favourite hot drink is a mocha (as we’ve established 🤣) and my favourite fizzy drink is Pepsi max! Sorry I couldn’t narrow it down to just one!
4. Lilac! 😊
5. Maple ❤❤❤

- Do you believe in ghosts?
- Do you have any ghost stories?
- have i asked u that question before, i forget
- What is one of your favourite movies?

1. YES
2. Not personally but I have a friend who is haunted, she took my place with my old flat mate when I moved in with my bf and weird stuff (that never happened previously) used to happen, doors would open that were locked before. They would hear footsteps in the hall and things would fall by themselves (one time a ball bounced from the hallway to the kitchen, still have no idea how that happened). They told me they didn’t feel like it was an evil presence but apparently they’ve followed her for years and are almost attached to her? I’m obsessed with horror movies and ghost stories and believe in spirit guides n stuff so I find it really interesting, and I’m quite sad I’ve never personally experienced anything 😢 (I’d like to ask you those questions too - you can reply here if you’d like! 😊)
3. If u did I can’t remember Bcos I’m old and have a terrible memory, so apologies if ive already told u this story before lmfao
4. Interstellar is my favourite movie of all time! I am a HUGE fan of Hans Zimmer (he composed the music for interstellar, lion king, gladiator and so many other amazing films) and I’m actually going to see him live next year! Anyways.. back to interstellar, I very rarely rewatch movies but Interstellar is something I’ve rewatched SOOO many times and I never get sick of it. I love space films and just was so amazed by it & it really got my imagination going about what could exist out there? Could that planet with huge waves that slowed down time exist? CRAZY.

Honestly I have to ask... Tips on drawing pet portraits? I've been admiring the work you post in your art thread for a while.

HAHAH
Omg I honestly obsessively played Maplestory, I met one of my irl besties on there and I have the fondest memories of the game. The soundtrack is *chefs kiss*

I always used to play a mage (and my first serious character was an I/L mage, then I made a healer). I really liked assassin too but never had the mesos to make a decent build haha.
My fondest memories are definitely of the PQs!! And laughing with friends, I would honestly be in tears laughing at some stuff and I would give anything to go back to that time in my life. I’m not sure if you remember the old MMVs that everyone used to make in Maplestory?? I actually made one for my English assessment on honey bees and why they were important…. *cringe*

did you ever play?😊

You are so sweet, thank you!
Honestly, don’t be afraid to just give it a bash! I was inspired by so many artists before I decided to give it a go and since I’ve started I’ve made so much improvement. One thing I will say is don’t be afraid to trace, especially when you’re first starting out (as long as it’s from a photograph). I always have to get the rough guidelines down before I begin otherwise proportions get messed up v quickly. A lot of people who draw pet portraits do this so I don’t think there’s any shame in it - especially if you’re doing the rest by eye! I always start with the eyes because I can work around them and they’re the most fun to draw! I like to lay down base colours and build up the tones I see until I get something that looks semi-complete. Then I go in and define it all with individual hair strokes of different colours/sizes. I’d say just give it a go for a friend or draw your own pet if you have one, just mess around with the colours/hair strokes until you feel comfortable. Practice makes perfect!

My art is still nowhere near the level I want it to be, but I keep going because I can see how much I’ve improved since I started 😊 I’m having a lot of trouble with my recent pet portrait (the cat) but it’s all been a learning process and it gives you more understanding for what to do/what to avoid in your next piece!

yes i absolutely religiously played maplestory! from waaay back when it was in open beta (tespia server) but i lost that account over the years i think ywy);; back when it took a month to hit level 30... kerning pq was great though! my favourite was/is ludiPQ -- i spent a lot of time there and have lots of funny maplestory memories. s> track 10k

i totally remember the old MMVs! i never made one but i always thought people who made them were skilled -- it seemed like it took a lot of work! video editting is beyond my abilities

since we're on the topic of maplestory! what's your favourite location? favourite song?

I thought I would bring it here.
Hahah! YES! I watch all of the marvel movies when the pandemic first started and I was furloughed. I have no idea how I’d avoided it for so long because it was AMAZING. Wanda didn’t really feel like much of a relevant character to me personally so I was a bit “meh” when I heard the series was being released, but after watching the first couple of episodes I became hooked and she quickly grew on me 🥰 I adore their relationship and definitely cried at the end hahah I also love Paul Bettany! Have you watched it?

I was on the EU server but I’m pretty sure I joined in like 2005 or 2006? 🤔 which is crazy. I can still remember that awful grind to 30 hahah, I had no idea what I was doing and spend most of my time “henehoeing” HAHA. I loved KPQ and got to Ludi PQ quite late because I was too busy chilling afk with my character that cost me hundreds of ££s because I wanted her to be ✨fashionable✨. It was so fun once I finally got there though! I also loved the trip to Orbis on the boat too, when the balrog would pop out and you’d get the fright of your life as a low lvl character hahaha.

I’ve always loved the Ellinia soundtrack, that probably stems from my love for mages tbh! I’m not sure about location, I always liked the place where the pet park was? I can’t remember what it was called! I’d roleplay with my friends as if I was their mother doing the shopping and stuff HAHAHA. What about you?

edit; I just wanted to add that this reminiscing is making me want to play again but I just can’t bring myself to do it bcos the game has changed so much over the years. The fun has been sucked out and it’s all pay to play 😢 I played MS2 for a while but it wasn’t the same, it got shut down a year or two ago as well!

ellinia was so magical but also it was always funny to fall to your death there. tree so tall. ground so far away.
the pet park maps were great and im pretty sure i did the same thing!! the right side of it was just.. perfect for silly family RP! my friends and i would do that in the free market more than pet park tho because there was a slide in the el nath free market maps and..... yknow. slides. fun times

my favourite map was ludibrium! its very cute and just... hit all of my aesthetics perfectly. especially the lost time areas -- the soundtrack there was my favourite too! i also had a soft spot for kerning -- i spent so much time there for the pq and jq and i was a young and the whole thieves sketchy town thing was cool. still is. little me had good taste.

also i feel you on the going back thing -- its fun for a little bit if you play with friends, but its definitely very different and more.. solo-oriented? i loved maplestory 2 but it was also just... not... handled well enough. ywy);;; but i liked the aesthetics of it -- visually very great!

im sorry i keep derailing your thread with maplestory. i just............. maplestory.
you should watch this video tho and the other maplestory videos in this channel -- they recreated maplestory areas in unreal engine and its just so pretty while also still matching my memories of the game

what other games did you play in the past, aside from maplestory? 'w')9

Hi! I have a couple of questions. Sorry they are all art related 😅. Been really interested in hearing how everyone gets into art :) and such.

1. What got you interested into art?
2. What type of art is your favorite (to look at)?
3. What is your biggest source or inspiration (for art or anything in general)?
4. Favorite subject to draw?

1. YES
2. That is some QUALITY SPOOKS right there, thank you for sharing - I love hearing these stories lol. The random bouncing ball in the hallway is like something straight out of a horror movie 😱

And yes I believe in ghosts, too - I get given a hard time about that by my friends but it's just fun, and it doesn't harm anybody to believe in that kind of stuff lol. I've only had a few ghostly things happen to me directIy.
One notable story I have is: shortly after my cat passed away several years ago (and when we eventually got another kitten), I became aware of something moving out of the corner of my eye a lot in different rooms around the house. I always just assumed it was my other cat but when I'd turn around there would be no sign of her, and usually I'd go on to find her sleeping somewhere else in the house.

That on it's own isn't very noteworthy (eyes playing tricks on us and all that) but what happened afterwards was interesting. I started experiencing (what felt like) a cat jumping up on the end of my bed whilst I was in it. It's such a distinct feeling that I am very familiar with (having owned cats for most of my life - all of which have slept on my bed lol) and I had no doubt that's was what it was. I'd even look down at the foot of my bed assuming it was my other cat jumping up, but it wasn't. This happened maybe 4 or 5 times for a little while before stopping. I also felt the sensation of a cat brushing up against my leg in the kitchen a couple of times before it all stopped. I always liked to think it was my old cat spending a bit more time around the house, making sure to say his goodbyes properly before he crossed the rainbow bridge aaaand now i'm sad

Other stories are much like the ones you mentioned, doors opening and closing, things moving around seemingly without explanation, and footsteps around empty houses. I love all this kind of stuff lol, and although i'm a huge wuss when it comes to horror films I still love watching them 😅

Thanks for answering my questions mocha! (and for letting me tell a lil story of my own, too) 💚

Ahhh yes I remember doing that for fun, so I could sit as a ghost F3’ing people 🤣🤣
I forgot about the free market!! We used to take guild photos in the el nath ones, I loved sliding around too! Take me back to simpler times…

Ludi was and still is sooo cute, we also used to RP in the bit leading up to the PQ where the houses were haha! I loved the music and remember watching (at the time) high level players grinding the robots!! I much preferred watching people level up compared to doing it myself lmfao
Honestly Maplestory is where I found my love for JQs, did you ever take part in the sleepywood one? I’d spend hours and hours on my own trying to get through them and felt so good about myself once I’d finally reached the top haha!
I don’t blame you at all, it’s actually been really nice to reminisce. It was such an amazing game that I sunk so many hours into and I’m actually gutted that it changed so much otherwise I might still have played it today! I watched that video and how tf did they do that?? Brought back so many memories!!
To answer your question, I didn’t really play many other games when I was little but I did have a huge obsession with tamagotchis. I also loved Gaia online so I’d spend hours on the forums! I didn’t find animal crossing until I was around 11 or 12 I think and at the time I didn’t understand it so didn’t have as much of an attachment as I do now. I played the normal games like Spyro and crash bandicoot on PlayStation though! 😊

1. opinion of me?
2. favorite collectible?
3. favorite band / artist?
4. favorite villager?

1. Very sweet & easy to get along with! Always a pleasure seeing you across the forum 😊
2. I don’t think I have a favourite per se, but I really like the stars & hope to get the pink and purple ones eventually!
3. Ariana grande is by far my favourite artist, as for favourite band.. I really like Sam Fender, he’s a british artist from Newcastle (the place I’m from) and his songs have really good meaning/lyrics.
4. maple! ❤😊

1. What got you interested into art?
2. What type of art is your favorite (to look at)?
3. What is your biggest source or inspiration (for art or anything in general)?
4. Favorite subject to draw?

no problem at all!! I love hearing it too and find it quite inspiring to know we all have similar stories!
1. So originally I was a part of a tamagotchi forum (that was kind of my internet awakening), and a lot of people on the forum liked to draw characters like OCs. This was a time when drawing wolves was really popular so I saw A LOT of people drawing them - there were a couple of artists in particular who inspired me to draw because I was amazed by their talent and wanted to create art similar to theirs. I began drawing wolves & other silly things and I kind of dipped in and out of it for years! I was also a part of a forum called Gaia online where it was very art focused so I’d draw commissions on there of characters. I’d say I only really started taking it seriously over the past couple of years and I’ve definitely noticed an improvement since I began! 😊
2. I love so many different types of art so don’t necessarily have a type that is my favourite, I do love harmonious colours & actually love watching the painting process a little more than seeing the final result! I like anything from simplified chibi cutesy things to over complicated time consuming things!
3. Other artists! I love checking the forum here and am always inspired by their talent, I also love scrolling on Instagram or watching YouTube videos! I also like Deviantart although I don’t use it as often anymore, it’s still nice to pop on every once in a while and see what art I’ve missed 😊
4. Ahh I don’t really have a favourite subject, I mentioned earlier that most things are a challenge for me 🤣🤣 but I have loved doing pet portraits and find them so calming and therapeutic to complete!
