Hello! My daughter bought the Sanrio amiibo set and used Etoille and Chai as villagers. In my village, I recently had Brewster's Cafe open up in the museum and I thought it would be fun to invite the unused amiibo characters to the cafe. I was a little disappointed to be honest. I couldn't respond to them or even have a cup of coffee with them. I could only sit across the table, empty handed and watch them while they had their coffee. I could only press "A" to get them to talk, but again, I could never respond. Am I doing anything wrong or is this how it is supposed to work? Perhaps my expectations were too high? I thought it would be a little more interactive.

Thanks!

That’s how it works, unfortunately. I wish villagers were more interactive, but this is the game now. The dialogue is stale. It focuses more on the design aspect than the community aspect. I understand it’s disappointing.

Okay, thank you for letting me know. I wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong or leaving out a step. I wish we could invite our villagers to the cafe for a cup of coffee and a chat. I had hoped that would be a new dialogue option once the cafe opened but alas, not.

You can (almost) only do this if you have the HHP dlc pack. The dlc has you build several facilities that gives a slightly expanded dimension of villager interaction. Building a cafe and/or restaurant lets you assign villagers jobs and gives some new dialog. It's also "interactive" and lets you order food for your character every day. It costs more money, but if you're into designing and decor, it's adds quite a bit.

My daughter has this expansion. She's still fairly new into it, so it's good to know that this will open up eventually for her. Sounds cute.
