What if in ACNH there was weather events such as Hurricanes where you have to collect supplies and help your neighbors. Tell me what you think. I got this idea from an older thread on the Animal Crossing Forum.

idk this seems to "mini-game" like to me and not like animal crossing. it seems like something that pocket camp would try and pull off. id rather just live on my island and be peaceful with events like acnl and not rushed events like pocket camp.

I'm not sure on this. I mean, a hurricane? That sounds too devastating and not like Animal Crossing. It also sounds like that it will destroy some parts of my island and I don't want that. I much prefer the regular weather, as it's quite peaceful. :)

As a Floridian that lives on the west coast, (and out of the way of Dorian) a hurricane is a bit much, maybe high winds that scatter branches and rocks of the sort, storm surges would be a bit much as well.

I doubt we'll get a hurricane/typhoon/tropical cyclone, but I think there should be one.

A way it could be implemented in-game is to change the sky, show the trees blowing hard, and make it so the wind will blow you around a bit if you stand still. Maybe even have the water come up higher on the beach. Also have the villagers warn you to stay aside. It could express the weather without heavily impacting gameplay.

However, given that might provide a false sense of security for actual storms of such nature, I'm not sure Nintendo would be willing to do that.

I hope that since this is an island, you get large waves crash into your beaches while a storm is going on. They wouldn't damage anything (constantly having to repair things sounds like it would get really annoying really fast), but they would be very pretty.

Also, I don't expect this to happen, but if waterspouts were added as an extremely rare weather event, that could be interesting. They could never actually enter your town, since having tornadoes in your town doesn't sound very relaxing. Perhaps it could even rain fish onto the beach once it's finished (something that can actually happen), so it becomes a pleasant experience.

Doesn't seem like something I'd be interested in. Might end up feeling more tedious than fun. That's just my opinion though. :)

I wouldn't want a hurricane to happen, but I think it would be cool to have different kinds of storms that affect the waves differently. Maybe even something less catastrophic but still new, like hailstorms.

That seems a bit extreme. But I would like more natural interactions with weather like on a windy day the trees and flowers blow/move around more. The only more extreme thing i can think of is after heavy snowfall we use our shovel to shovel away big clumps of snow that is left around after the snowstorm... kinda in the same vein as removing a weed in the way. If you don't dig up the snow, you just walk slower through it and it doesn't harm you. But you can still shovel the snow away. But other than that, I don't think there'd be any kind of weather condition/event where it would prevent us from playing a natural day without strenuous effort.

I think a hurricane may be a bit too much, but I'd like to see some other types of weather events, such as fog.

if snow is a thing on the island then i'd really like to see thundersnow as a rare event! but i agree, i think the hurricane/typhoon/devastating storm would be a bit much (although i'm wondering, it's supposed to be a tropical island so will there still be snow/winter?)

You guys are right about hurricanes being to extreme. I like the idea of high winds knocking branches to the ground, and bigger waves, maybe washing up items onto the beach?

I think different wind speeds could be pretty cool. As said before it could scatter extra twigs and some leaves around your island that you'd have to pick up. ☆

It sounds like a fantastic idea, but not one I would want to deal with on my island. As others have said, it sounds like it could destroy parts of my island and I would definitely not want that. The graphics would be cool, and I'd love it, as long as it doesn't cause any real trouble.

I guess having to deal with hurricanes and helping out your villagers not getting in danger because of
this may put some (younger) players in a sort of panic mode where they get stressed out and maybe
believing that they could lose their villagers or even parts of their island if they not secure everything
proper. So I guess that's not such a good idea. Besides, personally I wouldn't like having hurricanes
in the game.

I think wind with various speeds that doesn't cause any damage are fine. What I would also like too
see are frozen puddles in winter. If you walk on them, you character kinda starts to slide.

I find your idea just so cool !

For hurricanes and other very bad weather, I'm not sure. It's a game where you need to relax. Having these kind of problems is not that fun and some players (especially in Japan, also in America) should have experienced that... and maybe suffered a lot.

But of course they can add more different weathers ! Hail, mist, heavy rain... and also different temperatures ? Because for now, from spring to summer is a big change. And it stay like that the whole season. But in reality (in Belgium for me, I don't talk about country like Singapore near Equator) it's not like that. In summer, you should have 35 degrees an entire week and after something like 20... it changes. Same in winter. Snow is not all the time.
