animal crossing new leaf stolen, help

so I wasnt sure where to post this, but my animal crossing game was stolen awile ago, so we bought a new one. I was wondering if there was a way to get my data back on the new animal crossing game.

I don't think you can recover your data as Animal Crossing: New Leaf saves on the cartridge.

Man that sucks! Sadly you can transfer data over How do you know the game was stolen? Did you take it with you to school?
