I was thinking on how big should the town be in Animal Crossing 2019. Should it be the biggest it has ever been or should it be the same size as New Leaf, City Folk or GCN. What are your thoughts?

For reference, this is the size of the town for each game in 16x16 acres:
Pink: Wild World
Light Blue: New Leaf
Orange: City Folk
Green: GCN

I used to like the map size of City Folk when I start New Leaf, but looking back on it I always got lost haha. I think New Leaf is the perfect size, although, I wouldn't be opposed to a bigger map if there's more things to decorate with.

I like New Leaf’s size (although I haven’t played other games besides WW). I wouldn’t mind more playable zones though, like Main Street, campgrounds etc. I can imagine it being something like the little community you can make in HHD...

GC size or bigger! I felt really trapped in how small the New Leaf maps are after a while, and especially with all the public work projects (I'm sure we're going to see lots of new ones, too) I'm just ready for much more space. I like having a lot of room to work with.
Fortunately I think the fact that the new AC game is going to be on a home console again is making it very likely that our maps are going to be larger.

gcn or bigger. nl gets very crowded very fast, especially with 10 villagers.
if we're gonna have a huge map, though, increase the villager cap a bit.

I only ever played Wild World and New Leaf so I'm used to the smaller maps, but given the potential of Animal Crossing on Switch, I think that the City Folk map size would be ideal. Plenty of space to make use of the Switch's power (increased villager cap, more buildings etc.) without feeling overwhelming.

I would love to be able to build paths from one town to another with permisson from both players. Or maybe you could have different parts of a town from different people? For example, my town in GC is called Derry, but what if there was a bridge at the end of it that lead to a new area that was the same size but still part of Derry. Like a North Disctrict and a South District.

Depends on how much we have to decorate our town with! If we get quite a lot of PWPs as well as possibly having more villagers, then I’d be very happy with GCN or bigger! Would also like to see the town layers return, would really compliment having a larger town!

I want it to be GC size (but 10-12 villagers for PWP room) but I understand if the devs considered that game a rough draft. There wouldn't be much of a reason for GC size if they continue to separate the shops and museum from the town...so I really hope they move back : )

WW feels larger than NL 0_o

A breath of the wild's sized map, thanks bye

The new town should be at least GC size, I would love to have a big town. Because a big town
also means more space for more villagers, PWPs and maybe even little shops or new buildings in
general. I don't like small towns at all, as it feels like you quickly lost space and it also feels like
that everything is so squashed together.

This is probably an unpopular opinion but I'd like a big town without increasing the villager cap. I think ten is fine. Fifteen in gamecube felt like too much, I felt like I could never properly talk to all my villagers and it felt less homey than games with smaller caps.

I want it bigger for sure. But I also want Nintendo to do away with the globe, rolling effect when you wander around town. It has to go.

What effect would you prefer? Similar to the ACGC effect? I actually quite like the rolling log but if you have ideas for something better it would be neat!

That just gave me an idea. Why wouldn't it be that way ? With the Nintendo Online Service You'd have a large overworld populated by different villages a few hundred meters away. It would be forested and you could try and catch bugs and fish in the forests between villages. And then you can chose to visit other villages by simply walking in the forest or by taking the train if you want to skip the walk between villages. That would be SUPER cool. Each village would have a town center with a clock tower you could climb and look in the distance to spot nearby villages. That would be epic.

Villagers could move from towns to towns that way. So all the 472 villagers would actually populate your world and live in different parts of it? That would be awesome. Some could even live recluse in the forest.
