Share some of your Animal Crossing theories here!

One theory I have is that Isabelle is the Emcee/Clerk from the Marquee in Animal Crossing City Folk. Isabelle would have been much younger and it could have been one of her first jobs.

I also have a theory that between City Folk and New Leaf, that the city has been abandoned. Everyone who had a shop there has since moved to Main Street or somewhere else in New Leaf, so it kind of makes since. I can also see this as being a possible feature in New Leaf, which would be to rebuild the city.

Those are some interesting theories, haven't heard them before.
I don't have any (from what I'm currently remembering), but I don't know if I ever would.
The game just seems simple in that aspect.

My theory is that in New Leaf, before you became the mayor, there was once a tree at the town plaza that represented Tortimer and his time of being the mayor of the town you're about to settle down. Since he did his job for quite a while, the tree was therefore gigantic. However, when he retired and moved to his own island, the villagers of the town decided to cut down said tree, not only as a symbol that the time of Tortimer being the mayor is over, but also to make space for his successor. And that's why there is that spot on the town plaza where you plant that little sapling that gets bigger the longer you play the game. (Otherwise, I wouldn't understand it as of why they would have the whole time a empty spot for a tree or something at the town plaza if there wasn't a tree there back then which got removed before you came into the town.)

Also, I like the theory that Isabelle was the emcee/clerk from the Marquee.

I used to have a theroy that the human villager actually can't talk, at all. Instead the animals kinda fill in what they say, and the human nods/shakes head/makes gestures to answer questions.

Also the driver of the train when you make a character is Porters' Dad or somethin. If you think about it, I think you can see the monkey a bit in the window, Porter stands at the station ready for you, and his fur looks a LITTLE darker and a LITTLE more red than Porters fur.

I think Rover was supposed to be mayor. There are only two passengers on the train in the beginning. You get off the train (Rover doesn't) and you're welcomed as the mayor. A while later you get a letter from an unknown person who
  1. Knows you
  2. Knows you became the mayor
  3. Accepts the fact that you've become mayor
  4. Wouldn't be recognized by the town people, as they mistook you for them
I think that was Rover, who chickened out at the last minute and decided you'd be a good fit to replace him.

omg o___o this is genius

I don’t know if anyone else remembers this, but for a while I think there was this theory going around that
Francine and Chrissy were actually humans and pretended to be animals because they were embarrassed for some reason? I don’t know how popular this theory actually was but I do remember seeing some Fan art of it. As for the likelihood of it, it does make some sense but of course there are flaws in the theory, but I do think there could be some animals that may just be humans like zipper. And it is pretty strange how we seem to be the only humans besides (presumably) our parents. But I guess we’ll never know.

A good theory that I thought about years ago is that I think Zipper T Bunny is actually Phyllis who is inside the bunny costume.

That does make some sense given that both zipper and phyllis do not enjoy their jobs. But at the same time I think that theory is disproven on zippers wiki page.

Speaking of Zipper...

One theory is that Zipper T Bunny is actually a sort of "punishment", like Zipper itself is a mascot in form of the costume. And whoever is under that costume must have done something so bad, that the person now have to play Zipper on said holiday as a punishment, which sucks so much because the person have to wear that silly costume and have to act like everything is great and joyful, when it's not actually the case for that person, which you find out if you talk with "Zipper".

Other theory is that the villagers needed a mascot for Bunny Day. So their created Zipper in form of that costume. Now the problem is that someone needed to play Zipper. After a long search they ended up with some poor guy who got force to play Zipper and ever since then play the role of Zipper. Whenever it's a animal or a human under the costume is unknown, but it could be that it's the mayor (human like the player) from another town who first thought that it would be cool to play as Zipper, but then realized how much it sucks to play this character and regret it to took the role back then.

There was this theory I saw about the villager (person you play as) accidentally got aboard a train that lead them to an alternate reality that mirrored their own, except with animals instead of humans. But they’re okay with it.

If this happened to me, I know I would be okay with it. :)

If this also happened to me, I'd be super okay with it. Animals are better than people.

Funny enough, this is what I always thought about Animal Crossing in general. You somehow end up in
this reality and seem to not find a way back to your actual reality. And somehow, your parents found
a way to send you letters, however, you can't send any back because no animal knows the reality you
came from. Alternative, your "parents" aren't your real ones and someone just pretends to be them just
to make you happy because this person knows you will never see your (human) family again, as you
stuck in their reality. And since you can't go back, you try your best to start a new life and make
friends with these weird animals around you.
