I hope everyone had a nice time in the Fishing Tourney today...unlike mine. But we'll get to that soon enough, right now, it's time to show off one of the areas around Animalia: the lighthouse.
I know, I know, what town doesn't have a lighthouse PWP? I chose to start here has always been one of my favorite PWPs, and I found a nice little spot down at the south shore to put it, right below Re-Tail. I purposely waited until night to take this pic, as I love how the light shines at night. Oh, and I have tulips planted everywhere around it, because...it just started out that way. I'd like to color-coordinate it better in the future by maybe doing orange and white flowers around it, but for now, I think it looks OK. Tomorrow, we'll get into a little bit more "personalized" areas around town.

Anyhow, today was the Fishing Tourney, and I hemmed and hawed on my decision on whether or not to participate until about noon, when I finally figured what the heck. This month's tourney was about loaches, so I headed to the river to fish out as many as I could. I brought the first one I found to Chip, which measured a fairly decent 8.20 inches, and it was good enough to take second place. The record belonged to Astrid, whose loach measured an impressive 9.50 inches. My all-time record loach, according to my encyclopedia, is 9.65 inches. Still, I kept trying, but every loach I caught came up short. I gave up after about a half hour of trying, and went off to water my flowers, dig up my fossils, sell all my excess fish, and browse the stores before turning the game off and coming back shortly before the awards ceremony. As was just my luck, my loach wasn't enough to put me in the top 3: Astrid held on to the top spot with her 9.50-incher, while Al took second place with 8.90 inches, and Mira was third with 8.65 inches. But I wasn't that upset, as I already have all the fish furniture and trophies.

After the Tourney concluded, my villagers would finally talk to me about other things. That's one thing I hate most about Fishing Tourneys...for the love of all that is holy, please talk about something OTHER THAN FISH!!! Apollo pinged me, and wanted to give me his diamond tee, saying that he saw a fortune-telling show that said he'd get good luck if he gave a present to the first person he saw. I think he's been reading too many chain mails, TBH. Later, Astrid asked if I believed in UFOs. Just to humor her, I said yes. She then went on to talk about the "unidentified floor oranges" she often finds in her house. Come to think of it, she does live close to a couple of orange trees...I'd better ask if she keeps her windows open at night. Someone might be playing a prank on her.
I went to visit Lolly, partly to see if she might drop some hints about what she wanted for her birthday. She gave me some planked tatami just for showing up, and now I really need to get her a good gift. Rosie had heard Astrid calling me "Little S", and wanted to call me that too. Despite the fact that I said no one but Astrid could call me that, I caved, and now Rosie knows me as "Little S" too. Anyone else wants to use that nickname, I'll come after them with my golden axe. Nearby, Walker was moping around. He wouldn't tell me why he was so sad, but if I ever find whoever made him feel that way, WATCH OUT!!! I made sure to talk to Eugene as well, and he mentioned that he was in a band when he was younger, but they broke up when they thought they couldn't go anywhere else. Judging by all the musical instruments in his house, he seems to have problems letting go of the past. Why can't I figure this guy out?...
Rosie and Lolly were later chatting, and Lolly was noticing how much self-confidence Rosie had. Rosie offered to coach Lolly on being more confident, and suggested she tell herself she was awesome 10 times a day. I assured Lolly that she was awesome (which she most DEFINITELY is!), and Rosie backed me up. Hopefully, our soon-to-be-birthday cat will start being more sure of herself. And on the beach, I discovered that my two blue roses that I'd put there for breeding purposes had sprouted a new blue rose! I didn't even use any fertilizer!!! I put them in a nice spot that I will definitely show off tomorrow...

That's all for today! Hope everyone had a nice Fishing Tourney, and I will be back tomorrow with another slice of life in my town.
