I'm just going to be the one supportive person on the thread and say: I always thought the concept of otherkin was pretty cool. I can't help but wonder the same thing as Ragdoll and say: is there a particular reason why you feel like you were some kind of dog in a past life?

sure. a few things really - in almost all of my dreams since I was little, I've been a dog/seen myself as a dog, I used to play pretend as a dog a lot when I was younger (obviously, not anymore) to the point where it creeped my parents & sister out a little bit, and although it sounds silly, I often experience astral limbs (the feeling of canine ears + tail on my human body). i have no intention or desire to wear a tail or fursuit as it seems silly when clearly at this point I am human and not dog, if that makes any sense?

god how do u delete a thread because you all clearly have no idea what kin actually are and i thought there might be others here.but whatever. otherkin are people who believe in past lives and believe their soul belonged to something else in a past life. some otherkin use it as a coping mechanism (i don't so i don't really know how that works). plantkin don't eat soil (if they say they do, they're a troll), dragonkin don't try and jump off cliffs to fly (if they say they do, they're trolls) otherkin aren't oppressed, if they say they are - guess what? they're! a! troll!

no one is foodkin, that doesn't exist. fictionkin believe in alternate universes which would explain how they believe their soul once belonged to a character. ppl are usually kin with things that live/have energy. robotkin would believe that their soul inhabited the energy that robots expel to move/function etc.

if you don't know anything about something don't bother mocking it for crying out loud.

oh and literally ****ing everyone who has told their therapist about being otherkin have been told by said therapist that it is a known and recognized and healthy coping mechanism/spiritual belief.

just because some of us are joking around doesn't mean all of us have no idea what otherkins
are. however I just see them as special snowflakes who will never be taken seriously in the real world and who give the trans community a bad name cause it makes them look like a big joke.
and they want people to take them seriously but this otherkin stuff isn't helping.

yep, there are small otherkin communities (otherkincommunity and kinmunity being the most common), and people outside of the internet have been recognised as otherkin since the 80s i believe.
